About the role
As a Staff, QA Engineer at Warner Bros. Discovery, you will play a crucial role in defining and delivering test strategy and automation for mission-critical advertising workflows across the global ecosystem. Your responsibilities include establishing quality engineering standards, modernizing testing processes into automation, and enhancing release confidence through various validations. Key Responsibilities: - Own quality strategy for complex advertising systems covering real-time and batch workflows. - Design comprehensive test approaches for APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and end-to-end flows. - Scale automated test suites focusing on determinism, reliability, and maintainability. - Integrate regression, performance, and data validation into CI/CD pipelines for high-confidence releases. - Collaborate early in design and development cycles to improve testability and prevent defects, shifting towards engineering quality into the system. Expectation: Your role is to help teams transition from "testing features" to "engineering quality into the system." - Architect and standardize scalable test frameworks and quality enforcement mechanisms. - Develop reusable automation frameworks across various layers and establish service virtualization capabilities. - Define quality gates within CI/CD pipelines and utilize observability for faster issue triage. - Ensure the establishment of reusable frameworks and quality gates to enhance release confidence. Expectation: You are expected to reduce fragmentation and improve release confidence through standardized frameworks and quality gates. - Act as a quality partner to Engineering, Product, and Data teams to ensure robust system behavior. - Define acceptance criteria, test plans, and risk-based release strategies. - Validate complex integrations across various systems and ensure correctness of data flows. - Incorporate privacy, compliance, and data governance into test strategies. Expectation: Drive quality outcomes through clear requirements, risk-based testing, and readiness for release. - Raise quality engineering practices within your product area and mentor teams. - Lead design and test strategy reviews focusing on scalability and reliability. - Mentor engineers on automation patterns, testability, and defect prevention. - Champion a culture of quality ownership across teams. Expectation: Encourage shared responsibility for quality, rather than isolating it within the QA function. Qualifications & Experience: - Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - 8+ years of experience in building automated testing and quality practices for enterprise-scale systems. - Proficiency in coding languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with test automation frameworks. - Hands-on experience in API, Integration & Performance Testing, CI/CD quality gates, and observability practices. - Familiarity with AdTech domain knowledge and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
