About the role
As a highly experienced Principal System Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for leading end-to-end systems integration across complex hardware and software ecosystems. Your role will involve architecting and delivering robust integration strategies to unify multiple subsystems into cohesive, scalable solutions. You will define ICD-driven integration frameworks, drive cross-domain engineering alignment, and champion an AI-first, automation-first strategy to enhance operational efficiency and system reliability. Key Responsibilities: - System Integration Architecture: - Define and lead end-to-end system integration architecture across hardware platforms, firmware and BSP layers, operating systems, middleware and application stacks, as well as cloud and edge platforms. - Architect multi-layer integration strategies to ensure seamless interaction between heterogeneous subsystems. - Establish design principles for modular, scalable, and reusable system integration. - ICD-Based Integration Strategy: - Define and institutionalize Interface Control Document (ICD)-driven integration methodology. - Specify interface contracts across hardware, firmware, software, and external systems to ensure end-to-end traceability and manage interface versioning. - Enable subsystem decoupling through well-defined interface abstractions. - Core System Integration Leadership: - Lead integration of multiple hardware and software subsystems into unified systems. - Resolve cross-layer issues and oversee integration sequencing, dependency management, and system readiness. - Drive hardware-software co-design and co-validation strategies. - AI & Automation Strategy: - Develop and execute an AI-first integration and validation strategy. - Build automated integration pipelines and leverage AI/ML for integration issue prediction, system monitoring, and test automation. - Drive automation to minimize manual integration effort and reduce lifecycle cost. - Cross-Domain Collaboration: - Partner with cross-functional teams and align on interface definitions, integration milestones, and validation criteria. - Act as a technical bridge across multiple engineering domains. - Operational Excellence: - Ensure systems meet performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability targets. - Establish observability across system layers and drive continuous integration, testing, and deployment. - Mentorship & Governance: Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and define best practices for system integration engineering. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Core Technical Expertise: - Deep expertise in integrating complex systems with strong experience in hardware-software integration, BSP layers, embedded systems, and debugging cross-layer issues. - Understanding of system bring-up, protocols, and real-time system integration challenges. - Software & Platform Skills: - Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, and scripting for automation. - Experience with Linux systems, RTOS, middleware integration, and CI/CD pipelines. - AI & Automation: - Experience with automation frameworks and AI-driven observability for reducing integration and operational costs. Preferred Skills: - Experience in virtualization, simulation, or emulation environments. - Familiarity with digital twins, edge computing, and security integration across system layers. As a Principal System Integration Engineer, you are expected to demonstrate strong system-level thinking, leadership skills, ownership, and a passion for engineering excellence and innovation. A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required for this role.
