Role Overview: As an individual in India collaborating with the Startup client, you will be contributing to a diverse portfolio of high-impact research initiatives. Your role will involve testing and building models, growing strategies, and developing systems that turn ideas into action. This could include tasks such as building machine learning models, analyzing public data sets, and quantifying urban development patterns in global real estate. The problems you will tackle rarely have clear answers, which is why originality, experimentation, and a deep understanding of data are highly valued. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze diverse datasets including market microstructure, macroeconomic indicators, social media sentiment, satellite imagery, real estate transactions, and behavioral data. - Develop predictive models and frameworks using tools from statistics, machine learning, econometrics, and more. - Design, implement, and refine algorithms and strategies in domains such as finance, AI applications, and social behavior modeling. - Write production-quality code to integrate research into live systems. - Collaborate closely with the team in the US, sharing insights, challenging assumptions, and refining ideas together. Areas of Research May Include: - Financial Markets: Strategy development, pricing models, portfolio optimization, market impact analysis. - Alternative Data: Extracting insights from non-traditional sources like news, satellite imagery, traffic data, ESG disclosures, and social platforms. - Artificial Intelligence: Applying ML/AI techniques to trading, prediction, optimization, and behavior analysis. - Social Patterns: Modeling and forecasting consumer behavior, network effects, or political and cultural dynamics using large-scale data. - Real Estate and Urban Data: Quantifying development trends, migration patterns, economic signals, and valuation models using public and proprietary data. Qualifications Required: - Strong analytical and mathematical thinking, with comfort working in ambiguous and complex situations. - Proficiency in coding and data analysis, with experience in Python, KDB/Q, or functional programming considered a plus. - Curiosity to explore overlooked questions and the ability to uncover signal in noise. - Excellent communication skills, especially in remote, cross-time-zone collaborations. - An appetite for interdisciplinary work and the humility to learn from others across domains.
