As a Network Engineer (NetBrain) at WorldWide Technology Holding Co, LLC. (WWT), you will be part of the Cyber Enhancement Programme (CEP) to expand the discovery coverage of the NetBrain network automation platform. Your primary responsibility will be to work on identifying and closing the remaining discovery gap within the network estate, specifically focusing on DMZ environments and segments protected by firewall rules and Access Control Lists (ACLs). Key Responsibilities: - Work from curated lists of undiscovered devices to drive them through successful discovery. - Diagnose the root cause of devices being undiscoverable across the network path. - Identify and document blocked paths, including firewall policy and ACL restrictions. - Coordinate firewall rule changes and implement ACL changes directly where necessary. - Support scalable remediation through automation, including using Ansible for bulk ACL and access-rule changes. - Validate successful discovery of remediated devices in NetBrain and update tracking artefacts. - Operate within client change management standards by executing changes during approved windows. - Provide handover notes, evidence, and metrics back to the GTIS NetBrain lead at agreed cadences. Required Skills and Experience: Essential: - Strong core networking knowledge in enterprise routing and switching. - Hands-on experience with firewalls, including rule design, troubleshooting, and change implementation. - Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting ACLs on enterprise network devices. - Confident in IP addressing skills, including IPv4 subnetting, NAT, and public vs private addressing. - Proficiency with SNMP and CLI / SSH access for device interrogation and remediation. - Ability to diagnose network paths and access failures end-to-end. - Ansible knowledge to drive bulk ACL and access-rule changes. - Comfortable working in a regulated, change-controlled enterprise environment. Desirable: - Prior experience in financial services or other large, regulated estates. - Familiarity with DMZ architectures and perimeter design patterns. - Exposure to scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation tasks. Working Pattern and Overtime: - Analysis and investigation activities will be during standard working hours. - Implementation activities, such as firewall and ACL changes, will be performed out of hours, including evenings and weekends, in line with client change windows. - Regular weekend work should be expected as part of the job requirement. If you are passionate about network engineering and automation and possess the required skills and experience, this remote contract opportunity at WWT could be the next step in your career growth.
