Senior AWS Platform Engineer

AWS - ECS (Fargate), RDS, IAM, VPC, EFS Terraform Bash Exposure to containerisation technologies (Docker, ECS/Fargate, even Kubernetes) Exposure to observability platform management and maintenance (Splunk particularly would be beneficial) Jenkins configuration and management Python (Nice to have) Experience in managing and securing public facing services (websites) Role Description/Responsibilities: Working with the team to ensure SLAs are met to ensure availability of the supported Live Service Implement AWS improvements Focus on monitoring, alerting, deployment and operational activities Supporting activities such as documentation (technical documentation, maintaining run books etc) and testing Fault finding & problem solving Event Monitoring (triggered alerts, events, availability, capacity, performance monitoring etc) Instrumenting Monitoring (Adding new checks, dashboards etc) Environment builds Perform deployment activities using Jenkins to update staging and live environments with code updates and fixes (5am deployment windows for production environments) Complete post deployment activities on staging and live environments Patch Management (Operating systems e.g. containers, VMs) Logging (log aggregation, retention and archival) Backups (data backup and restore process) Reviewing Automated Build capabilities in Cloud environments Securing access to live and production environments using Cloudflare/Terraform Being part of the 24/7 Rota to resolve any Priority 1 issues out of support hours ( - 8-6) OOH required - 1 in every 4 weeks. 20% pro-rata d for being on call, and 120% for callouts Proactive mindset Disclaimer: The job location mentioned in this description is based on publicly available information or company headquarters.
