About The Role We are seeking an experienced VOIP & Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This senior-level role focuses on designing, deploying, and optimizing carrier-grade VoIP systems and ensuring the reliability, stability, and performance of ZIWO's global voice and network stack. You will work across VoIP technologies, cloud networking, and modern containerized environments, contributing to a platform that powers mission-critical communications worldwide. What You'll Be Doing Design, build, and deploy carrier-grade VoIP infrastructure. Deploy and manage VoIP, SIP, PBX, and unified communications platforms (FreeSwitch / Asterisk / Kamailio). Integrate voice systems with network infrastructure and external applications. Optimize call routing, QoS, and voice-specific security protocols. Deploy and manage VoIP/Network solutions in Docker / Kubernetes environments. Implement systems to monitor voice quality using tools like Homer, and ensure SLA-driven voice performance. Configure LAN/WAN environments: routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN, load balancers. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues related to latency, jitter, packet loss, and downtime. Implement SIP trunking, SBCs, number routing, and modern IP-based call flow architectures. Plan and execute migrations from legacy telephony (analog/PRI) to IP-based platforms. Use tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and platform-level diagnostics to debug complex voice issues (call drops, one-way audio, registration failures). Design and maintain failover systems, redundant SIP trunks, and resilient routing plans. Maintain services post-launch by monitoring availability, latency, and system health. Automate workflows to remove manual or error-prone processes. Apply cloud tooling (AWS, OCI, and others) to improve time-to-market. Participate in on-call rotations for alerts and incidents outside normal hours. What You Bring Core Qualifications 5–10 years of experience in VoIP & Network Engineering. B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent. Proven experience building and maintaining VoIP stacks and unified communication systems. Strong programming/scripting experience (Python or Go) Excellent English communication skills. Technical Competencies Carrier-grade VoIP Deployment Experience With FreeSwitch, Asterisk, Kamailio SIP protocols, RTP handling, SBC configuration Network Engineering Proficiency LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN Load balancing and redundancy Experience With Docker / Kubernetes for VoIP workloads Voice monitoring systems (Homer) Network performance monitoring & troubleshooting Strong Knowledge Of Linux (Ubuntu) Ansible, Terraform PostgreSQL AWS / OCI Git & Git Flows Monitoring tools: InfluxDB, Prometheus, Elasticsearch Bonus Skills Experience with OPNsense (routing, firewalling, HA setups). Deep understanding of networking protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS. Cloud-native networking: VPC/VCN, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute. Mastery of troubleshooting tools: tcpdump, iptraf, mtr. Experience with IaC for networking using Terraform or Ansible. Strong background in SIP, RTP, SBCs, and telco-grade reliability. Experience operating high-availability telephony or VoIP systems at global scale.
