About the role
Role Overview: Senior Broadcast Engineer is the technical authority responsible for planning, designing, integrating, commissioning, operating, and delivering world-class broadcast systems for large-scale national and international productions. The role provides end-to-end technical leadership across the project lifecycle, ensuring engineering excellence, system reliability, operational readiness, and flawless on-air delivery. The incumbent will lead engineering teams, make critical technical decisions, coordinate with clients and host broadcasters, and drive continuous improvement in engineering standards and broadcast technology. Key Responsibility Areas : 1. Engineering Leadership & Project Delivery Lead the complete engineering execution of assigned projects from planning through commissioning, live production, and project closure. Design and validate resilient broadcast architectures with appropriate redundancy to ensure uninterrupted transmission. Develop engineering signal flow diagrams, system layouts, rack elevations, and technical documentation for complex broadcast deployments. Verify engineering readiness before transmission through comprehensive testing, system validation, and risk assessment. Serve as the primary technical authority during live productions, ensuring rapid resolution of engineering issues with minimal operational impact. 2. Broadcast Systems Integration Independently design, integrate, commission, and optimize broadcast systems for OB Vans, Flyaway Systems, Studios, Remote Productions, and multi-venue events. Integrate camera chains, RF systems, communications, replay systems, routing, audio, graphics, monitoring, synchronization, storage, networking, and transmission infrastructure. Eliminate single points of failure by designing resilient primary and backup signal paths. Ensure seamless interoperability between OEM equipment and third-party broadcast systems. 3. Engineering Governance & Operational Excellence Ensure full compliance with Company SOPs, engineering policies, customer specifications, and international broadcast standards. Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, configuration records, commissioning reports, asset registers, and project records. Drive engineering standardization across all broadcast systems, including rack layouts, cable dressing, labelling, documentation, and deployment practices. Lead post-event technical reviews, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve operational reliability. Uphold the highest standards of engineering quality, safety, operational discipline, and customer satisfaction. 4. Asset, Resource & Lifecycle Management Drive preventive maintenance, calibration, equipment lifecycle management, and asset reliability initiatives. Optimize engineering resources, equipment utilization, logistics, rentals, and deployment strategies while maintaining broadcast quality. Ensure proper handling, transportation, storage, and protection of Company assets throughout the project lifecycle. 5. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Mentor, coach, and develop Broadcast Engineers through structured technical training and knowledge sharing. Collaborate closely with Production, Technical Managers, Engineering, RF, Audio, EVS, Graphics, Logistics, OEMs, and host broadcasters to ensure seamless execution. Build strong professional relationships with clients, broadcasters, technology partners, and vendors to enhance the Company's technical reputation. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend engineering innovations that improve operational efficiency and service delivery. Areas of Technical Expertise: Senior Broadcast Engineer must demonstrate proven expertise in a minimum of three (3) of the following engineering disciplines: 1. Shader / Vision Engineer / CCU Operator Extensive experience in camera shading for National and International productions. Expertise in iris control, RGB balancing, black and white level management, gain, gamma, knee, flare, matrix, detail, colour temperature, HDR/SDR workflows, exposure control, optical filters, and multi-camera colour matching to ensure consistent picture quality. 2. Communication Engineering Design, configure, and manage large-scale broadcast communication systems. Expertise in Matrix Intercom, Wired & Wireless Communications, Partyline Systems, IFB, Four-Wire Circuits, GPIO, Trunking, Remote Connectivity, and third-party communication integration. 3. RF Engineering Independently engineer RF camera systems for major live productions. Expertise in frequency planning, spectrum coordination, channel allocation, RF propagation, bandwidth optimization, antenna design, diversity reception, interference analysis, latency management, and RF troubleshooting. 4. EVS Engineering Extensive experience managing enterprise replay infrastructures. Expertise in EVS XT Servers, XHub, XFile, replay networking, shared storage, IP switching, replay workflow integration, redundancy, and operational continuity. 5. IT & Broadcast Networking Strong expertise in Windows and Linux-based broadcast systems, server administration, Layer-2/Layer-3 networking, managed switches, VLANs, LACP, multicast networking, QoS, fibre infrastructure, NAS/SAN storage, DHCP/DNS, software deployment, backup and recovery, and cybersecurity best practices for broadcast environments. 6. Guarantee Engineer (GE) Minimum two years' experience as a Guarantee Engineer for major live productions. Independently engineered HD and 4K productions comprising a minimum of 30 broadcast camera chains , including third-party camera systems and associated broadcast infrastructure. Proven capability to design complete broadcast systems, develop engineering signal flows, integrate complex broadcast environments, eliminate single points of failure, and certify engineering readiness prior to transmission.
