Senior Design Engineer - AI Agentic

What you can expect You will build AI-driven features for Zoom from start to finish. These intelligent tools will reason, take action, and adapt to our users' needs. In this advanced role, you will have the freedom to work independently while partnering closely with design and engineering leaders. Because you will be shaping large-scale experiences, you must have a sharp eye for detail—right down to catching a single misaligned pixel. About the Team We build Zoom’s agentic AI product: ZoomMate, with conversational AI, proactive assistance, task automation, contextual intelligence. The team is small, flat, and opinionated. We ship fast, prototype constantly, and hold each other to a high bar on both design quality and code quality. Responsibilities Designing UI for agentic AI experiences, from interaction frameworks and motion systems to pixellevel polish. Using AI-assisted coding tools to build and ship your own designs. Making rapidly prototype ideas to validate them before committing to full implementation. Pushing the creative and visual quality bar for AI products across Zoom. Contributing to component libraries, design tokens, and shared tooling. Partnering with product, research, and leadership to shape what we build and why. What we’re looking for Possess a BS or equivalent experience with typically six or more years designing consumer or B2B software products while working independently at a senior level. Demonstrate exceptional product expertise, showcasing motion, rhythm, timing, and brand expression through a portfolio of original consumer or B2B work. Highlight craftsmanship and intentionality, presenting a portfolio that captivates and explaining the reasoning behind specific creative decisions. Design in Figma and use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, v0) to prototype and deliver your own work effectively. Prioritize design experience with component libraries or design systems over traditional front-end engineering expertise. Understand their structure, know when to adhere to them, and identify when exceptions are necessary. Apply systems thinking and communication by understanding how features integrate into broader UX and technical architecture while balancing creativity with system consistency. Communicate design rationale effectively to executives and discuss technical tradeoffs with engineers, demonstrating sound judgment in adapting to each conversation. Demonstrate ownership by managing features end-to-end and taking accountability for outcomes, not just deliverables. Embrace feedback, advocate for ideas based on merit, and prioritize the best solution regardless of origin. Exhibit excellent product intuition and adapt quickly to evolving AI tools. Show enthusiasm for frontier AI and agentic technology, with a focus on simplifying, building trust, and ensuring usability for everyday, non-technical users beyond early adopters. Nice to have Have familiarity with React, TypeScript, or CSS is a big plus Have experience with AI/agentic product design, conversational UI, or animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie). We'd rather see real depth in a couple of these than surface familiarity with all of them. Salary Range or On Target Earnings: Minimum: $171,800.00 Maximum: $375,900.00 In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value. Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
