About the role
As a seasoned Technical Manager in Data Engineering, your role will involve leading and guiding the data engineering function. You will be responsible for defining strategic direction, mentoring a team of data engineers, and ensuring the development of robust data solutions using cutting-edge tools and technologies. Key Responsibilities: - Define and champion the strategic direction for data engineering, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. - Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. - Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and infrastructure. Ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility. - Oversee the end-to-end delivery of data engineering projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to best practices, and alignment with business objectives. - Partner closely with pre-sales, sales, marketing, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and other departments to understand data needs, propose solutions, and support resource deployment for active data projects. - Evaluate, recommend, and implement new data engineering tools, platforms, and methodologies to enhance capabilities and efficiency. - Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data systems, ensuring optimal data processing and storage. Qualifications Required: - Experience: 15+ years in data engineering or related field. - Strong understanding of data architecture, pipeline development, and data infrastructure. - Experience with Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform. - Proficiency in Big Data Frameworks like Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, HDFS. - Familiarity with Data Warehousing/Lakes solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks Lakehouse, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse Analytics. - Knowledge of ETL/ELT Tools like Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica, DBT, Fivetran, Stitch. - Hands-on experience in data modeling, databases, programming languages, containerization/orchestration, and version control tools. This role will challenge you to drive innovation, collaborate effectively, and lead a team towards building scalable and efficient data solutions.
