Job Description: Sr. Automation Engineer - Playwright

As a Senior Automation Engineer - Playwright, you will be recognized as a technical authority in one or more areas of automation, manual testing, application, and systems engineering. This role involves providing design guidance based on long-term IT strategies and expertise in integrating applications across the business. You will define use cases for business-critical software solutions and develop an automation framework along with manual/automated test cases for core and regression test suites, working independently or alongside the product team.

Defining Engineering Standards and Practices

Contribute to the development of engineering practices, templates, test plans, and frameworks in collaboration with the team.

DevOps

Continuously assess and implement technology to enhance software stability, scalability, and resilience.

Utilize data to monitor and measure progress.

Promote and expand the use of CI/CD pipelines to improve the deployment and build processes.

Participate in team support rotations, providing expert insights into specific subsystems.

Selecting and Managing Technology Vendors

Assist in defining criteria for selecting appropriate technology vendors.

Participate in proof of concept evaluations and vendor assessments.

Coaching Engineers

Guide junior and other engineers to help them build foundational testing and automation skills.

Offer technical expertise to resolve software issues and provide training to junior developers.

Share domain-specific knowledge to help junior engineers grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.

Recruiting and Building Talent

Actively engage in the tech community to strengthen the organization's technology brand and position it as an employer of choice.

Participate in the interview process and recruitment efforts to hire the right talent for the team.

Contribute to the structure and content of the interview process to attract top candidates.

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

Required Work Experience and Skills:

7+ years of experience in engineering environments, transforming abstract concepts into detailed software engineering plans.

7+ years of experience in manual and automation testing with various tools.

Strong understanding of industry-standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.

Proficiency in version control and revision control processes.

Expertise in systems design principles ensuring security and stability.

Skilled in debugging code and analyzing complex logs to troubleshoot product defects.

Expert in querying databases for complex data lookups and updates.

Experience performing code reviews with team members.

Role-Specific Qualifications

Extensive experience with the Playwright framework using TypeScript, including creating an automation test suite and coaching team members in empathy and learning during the transition process.

Advanced experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions, including integrating test automation into the engineering flow for pull requests and production deployment.

Expertise in developing core and regression test suites for relevant products.

Capable of generating detailed reports and metrics on defects and product quality.
