Senior UX Designer – Design Systems

About the Role

As a Senior UX Designer focused on Design Systems, you will play a foundational role in shaping the infrastructure that powers consistent, high-quality user experiences across our digital products. You'll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, product managers, and brand teams to define, build, and scale our design system and its core components. You'll lead the effort to ensure the system is accessible, flexible, and easy to adopt, while also crafting a vision for how it evolves to meet future needs. With a strong systems-thinking mindset, you'll deliver documentation, tooling, and standards that promote design excellence and development efficiency across the organization. You are a culture carrier, helping to mentor fellow designers, uphold quality, and foster a sense of shared ownership around the system. You'll also actively participate in team design critiques and working sessions, contributing to a culture of craft, feedback, and continuous improvement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

HYBRID position: onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Will consider candidates that live within 50 miles of OneMain corporate offices in Baltimore MD, Wilmington DE, Charlotte NC, New York NY, or Irving TX.

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory Skills• 5+ years of experience in UX/Product Design with at least 2–3 years focused on design systems. • Proven experience scaling and governing a multi-platform design system. • Expertise in Figma (component libraries, variants, autolayout, tokens, etc.) and related tools (e.g., Storybook, Zeroheight, Miro). • Strong portfolio showcasing your systems work, including contributions to pattern libraries, guidelines, and cross-functional collaboration. • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS and how design translates to code. • Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and communicate across distributed teams. • Contribute to the development, expansion, and maintenance of OneMain's design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility across products. • Solid experience collaborating with cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Accessibility, Brand, and other Design teams) to define standards, components, interaction patterns, and usage guidelines. • Strong experience building and maintaining robust documentation, design kits in figma, and internal training to support widespread adoption and contribution. • Experience supporting and mentoring product teams in applying the design system effectively while evolving it based on feedback and usage. • Ability to drive governance processes to ensure system quality, contribution workflows, and component lifecycle management. • Ability to stay current with industry besst practices in design systems, tooling, accessibility, and UI/UX design and communicate to broader org.
