Product Engineer - Energy Storage Systems (ESS) (all genders Stuttgart, Germany View Job overview: Product Engineer for Energy Storage Systems is a critical contributor to the technical series support of current and upcoming projects. The Product Engineer will work in a global cross functional matrix organization consisting of systems, hardware, software, mechanical, validation etc. for energy storage system deployment. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to sustain battery products according to plan and expectation of the customer. The Product Engineer will also execute the project’s technical objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The focus for this position lies on battery based energy storage system solutions ranging from residential battery systems for PV installations up until multi modular HV container solutions for grid stabilization and industrial applications. Responsibilities: As key technical interface between customer and A123 internal multi-functional engineering and quality teams Responsible for the technical series development & support in all areas throughout the product lifecycle Coordination and Reporting of occurring issues during the life cycle Maintain scheduled engineering deliveries, updates and troubleshooting with support of global engineering team Organization of cross-departmental regular appointments including preparation and followups Coordination of mitigation and improvement measures with the internal development departments Support by the new product development with Product Specification, Coordination of the cell/module/pack Development, Evaluation of the life cycle behavior and collaborate to improve products continuously Support by acquisition of new projects through strong connection with customers and maintaining their trust in A123 products Position conditions: Education & Experience:

1. Completed engineering degree in the field of electrochemical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering or comparable (Master)
2. 5+ years of engineering experience preferred
3. Battery system and/or grid application/PV industry experience preferred
4. Familiar with battery system development through Battery validation, mechanical design, thermal management and also BMS, EMS, PCS
5. Solid problem solving and trouble-shooting skills including experience leading a triage team Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A fundamental understanding of program management, quality and manufacturing operations Ability to identify customers’ needs and translate them into a successful business proposal Strong communication and presentation skills Must be a creative thinker who will take total account ownership Must be a team player, who thrives in a start-up culture with minimum or developing policies and procedures and confident in sharing opinions with all levels of management; Must be outwardly enthusiastic and self-motivated  Excellent language skills in English.
