About the role
The Lead – Cell Design is responsible for developing and optimizing battery cell architectures—from electrode formulation and coating parameters to cell layout, electrolyte selection, and mechanical design—to achieve targeted performance, safety, cost, and lifecycle metrics across applications.
Educational Background:
- B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Computer/Instrumentation or related
- M.E./M.Tech./MS preferred for advanced roles; PhD a plus for R&D
Work Experience:
- 8+ years in Li-ion cell design/formulation or close collaboration with cell OEMs
- Cell qualification & failure analysis
Electrode & Stack Design • Define loadings, thickness, porosity; current collector specs; jelly‑roll/stacking parameters.
Materials & Electrolyte • Optimize electrolyte, separator selection, and formation protocols with R&D/process.
Mechanical & Safety • Design cell can/pouch/prismatic, tabs, sealing; support safety/abuse testing.
Validation & Docs • Run DoE, track cycle life/impedance; publish CTQs, control plans, and design specs.
