About the role
As a Senior Lead Database Engineer specializing in Microsoft SQL Server, operating in hybrid environments, your role will involve the following key responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability. - Optimize T SQL objects such as stored procedures, functions, views, and indexes. - Establish database design standards for OLTP and reporting workloads. - Manage SQL Server administration across on-premises and cloud/hybrid environments. - Ensure high availability, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and security best practices. - Identify and resolve performance issues using tools like execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, and wait stats. - Implement database-as-code using SQL Server Database Projects and maintain automated deployment pipelines. - Analyze and profile legacy SQL Server and upstream data sources to understand data flows, dependencies, and lineage. - Identify data quality issues, gaps, redundancies, and inconsistencies for data migration strategies. - Serve as the technical lead for database engineering initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Qualifications required for this role include: - 8+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server. - Strong expertise in T SQL development and performance tuning. - Proven experience with SQL Server Database Projects and automated deployments. - Deep experience with legacy system analysis and data migrations. - Strong understanding of SQL Server internals and hybrid architectures. - Ability to independently explore complex data environments and bring clarity.
