Jr. Mechanical & HSD Engineer

Business: Nxtra by Airtel Africa – Data Centre Business Reporting to: Head – Data Centre Engineering Nxtra by Airtel Africa is expanding its hyperscale data centre footprint and is looking for a Jr. Mechanical & HSD Engineer to support the design and delivery of mission-critical infrastructure projects. Role Overview The role will support end-to-end engineering and execution of hyperscale data centre projects, with a strong focus on mechanical systems and HSD/DG infrastructure. The incumbent will work closely with design consultants, project teams, and vendors to ensure high-quality and reliable delivery. Key Responsibilities Support design review and execution of mechanical systems for hyperscale data centres Assist in delivery of HVAC, cooling, DG, fuel storage & HSD handling systems Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders Ensure compliance with design standards, safety norms, and statutory requirements Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities Participate in technical evaluations and vendor coordination Experience & Qualifications Total experience: 10 years Minimum 3 years of direct data centre experience Exposure to design and delivery of hyperscale data centre projects Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Strong understanding of data centre mechanical infrastructure and fuel systems Key Skills Data centre mechanical systems HSD & DG infrastructure Hyperscale project delivery Design coordination & site execution
