About the Role We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Engineering to lead our engineering organization responsible for building and delivering enterprise-grade SaaS solutions. This role will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership across multiple engineering teams, ensuring the successful execution of product roadmaps while maintaining the highest standards of architecture, quality, scalability, security, and performance. The Director of Engineering will work closely with Product Management, Quality Engineering, Delivery, and executive leadership to drive engineering excellence, foster innovation, and establish best-in-class engineering practices. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with extensive experience in enterprise software development, cloud technologies, Agile delivery, and people leadership. Key Accountabilities 1. Engineering Leadership Provide strategic leadership and direction to Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, Architects, and Software Engineering teams. Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams by fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Establish engineering goals, performance metrics, and delivery objectives aligned with business priorities. Drive engineering excellence through best practices, technical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Partner with Product Management, Delivery, and Quality Engineering teams to ensure successful execution of product and customer commitments. 2. Technical Strategy & Architecture Define and execute the organization's engineering strategy and technology roadmap. Provide technical oversight for enterprise application architecture, solution design, and engineering standards. Review and approve architectural decisions to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business objectives. Promote reusable design patterns, modern software architecture, cloud-native technologies, and engineering best practices. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate tools, frameworks, and platforms to support business growth. 3. Engineering Delivery & Execution Lead engineering execution across multiple Agile teams delivering enterprise SaaS products and client implementations. Oversee engineering planning, estimation, resource allocation, sprint execution, and release planning. Monitor engineering performance, delivery metrics, and project progress to ensure predictable and timely delivery. Identify delivery risks, technical dependencies, and resource constraints, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes. Drive continuous improvements in engineering productivity, efficiency, and execution. 4. Engineering Governance & Quality Establish engineering governance frameworks, coding standards, design review processes, and software development best practices. Ensure adherence to SDLC methodologies, security standards, coding guidelines, and architectural principles. Conduct architecture reviews, technical design reviews, and engineering assessments. Partner with Quality Engineering to improve software quality, test automation, release readiness, and overall product reliability. Drive initiatives to reduce technical debt while improving platform stability and maintainability. 5. Risk Management & Technical Excellence Identify technical risks, architectural challenges, and implementation issues early in the development lifecycle. Evaluate technical feasibility for product enhancements and customer-specific customization requests. Lead root cause analysis for critical production issues and drive preventive actions. Ensure engineering decisions support platform scalability, security, reliability, and long-term sustainability. Promote proactive risk management and continuous improvement across engineering teams. 6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management Collaborate closely with Product Management, Delivery, Quality Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, and executive leadership teams. Communicate engineering strategy, project status, risks, and technical decisions effectively to business and technical stakeholders. Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and strategic partners where required. Support customer engagements by providing technical leadership during solution discussions and strategic initiatives. 7. People Development Mentor Engineering Managers, Architects, Technical Leads, and senior engineers to build future technical leaders. Establish career development plans, succession planning, and learning initiatives across the engineering organization. Encourage knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous professional development. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture. Skills & Knowledge Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills. Excellent understanding of enterprise application architecture and software engineering principles. Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, SDLC, DevOps, and engineering governance. Proven ability to lead multiple engineering teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build collaborative relationships across geographically distributed teams. Strong organizational, planning, and execution capabilities with a focus on delivery excellence and continuous improvement. Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a elated discipline. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum 15 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 7 years in senior engineering leadership roles leading multiple engineering teams and large-scale enterprise software initiatives. Proven experience delivering and managing enterprise SaaS products and large-scale, mission-critical applications in complex business environments. Extensive hands-on experience with the Microsoft technology stack , including C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core/.NET Core, .NET Framework, ASP.NET Web API, Entity Framework, ADO.NET, SQL Server, SSIS/ETL , and developing scalable, high-performance enterprise applications. Strong expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, N-tier applications, object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD), design patterns, and secure application development . Experience working with modern front-end technologies such as Angular/AngularJS, HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS3, and JSON . Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure , Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git/TFS, cloud-native application development, and DevOps practices to support scalable and reliable software delivery. Experience working with SQL Server for database design, performance optimization, and data integration, with exposure to technologies such as SSRS, SharePoint, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, WCF, and WPF considered an advantage. Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies , SDLC, release management, software architecture, and engineering governance. Experience working with globally distributed teams, mentoring engineering leaders, driving technical strategy, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions. Prior experience in Financial Services, FinTech, RegTech, AML, Fraud Detection, or other highly regulated industries will be an added advantage.
