About the role We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms, pipelines, and services that support critical business functions. In this role, you will work across the technology stack, developing solutions that span data ingestion, transformation, APIs, and supporting user interfaces. You will collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders worldwide while driving engineering excellence, automation, and process improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with deep data engineering expertise and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms, pipelines, and services. Develop solutions across the stack, including data ingestion, transformation, APIs, and supporting user interfaces. Integrate AI/ML capabilities into data workflows where relevant. Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and reliability. Take ownership of features and projects from design through delivery and support. Work closely with global teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. Contribute to engineering standards, automation, testing, and process improvement. Must have skills 5+ years of relevant software/data engineering experience: Candidates must have started their professional careers in 2020 or earlier. Internship experience does not count towards this requirement. Strong Python Development: Production-grade Python is the absolute core requirement for this role (well-structured, testable, maintainable code). Must be highly proficient beyond basic scripting or notebooks. Education: BTech or BE (Bachelor of Engineering / Technology) degrees are mandatory. Candidates from top reputed engineering institutions in India (e.g., IIT, NIT, BITS, or Top 50-100 universities) are highly preferred. Note: Candidates with BCA/MCA degrees will only be considered if they possess 7-8+ years of strong, verifiable experience in top companies. Company Background: Candidates must currently be working in Product-based companies. Candidates currently at Service/Consulting-based companies (e.g., TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, HCL) are not a fit unless that experience was at the beginning of their careers. Experience building and owning backend application components - APIs, processing pipelines, data ingestion. Advanced SQL query writing, schema design, and data modelling. AWS cloud services S3, Lambda; Terraform for infrastructure-as-code. CI/CD tooling - GitHub Actions or Jenkins; containerised testing environments. Big Data / Data Engineering fundamentals at scale, pipeline ownership, not just querying. Nice to have skills Migration Experience: Specific experience migrating from Elasticsearch to Snowflake is highly valued and a direct plus for this project. Snowflake and dbt - hands-on ELT architecture and medallion data patterns. Elasticsearch / OpenSearch - operational experience running and querying the platform. AI/ML - hands-on with LLMs, agentic frameworks, or ML pipeline integration. The team has a mature ML practice and this will be valued. Angular or modern front-end stack. Financial domain experience (equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX, hedge funds). ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for search and analytics. SageMaker or equivalent MLOps platform experience. Conditions: Notice Period: Maximum of 1 month notice period required (2 weeks or less is ideal). Location: On-site role. Candidates must be based in Bangalore, India. Contractor role - 12-month contract (renewable, possible C2H). Full-time dedication (40 hours/week). Compensation: Up to USD 5k per month. Salary will be paid via Payoneer or Cadana. Talent will be responsible for managing their taxes.
