Role Overview: At Apple, exceptional products and customer experiences are the result of phenomenal ideas turning into reality quickly. As a Safety Engineer at Apple's Product Safety Engineering department, you will play a key role in ensuring that Apple products comply with international safety standards and regulations. Your expertise in electrical/electronics engineering or material science will be essential in supporting safety engineering design, testing, and continuous improvement strategies. Key Responsibilities: - Demonstrate a deep understanding of Apple products and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety requirements and resolve design challenges for new technologies and consumer products. - Perform Safety compliance testing, write reports, and obtain certifications such as CB or related schemes to ensure product safety. - Drive product design for safety and compliance with global standards like IEC/EN/UL/CSA, including test equipment, procedures, and agency requirements. - Utilize scientific methods to conduct design experiments and failure analyses to evaluate product performance and safe operation. - Take ownership of and oversee the safety aspects of Apple products, including negotiating design processes and reviews at system and module levels. - Identify potential manufacturing defects that may lead to safety issues by understanding manufacturing processes. - Collaborate with suppliers to maintain product safety during production and conduct detailed failure analysis for future implementations. Qualification Required: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. - 10+ years of engineering experience in consumer, medical, military, space product design, or reliability engineering with expertise in electronics design, safety, risk, and failure analysis. - Proficiency in evaluating product safety, safety testing, and compliance with standards such as IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950, 62368, 62133, 60601, and 60065. - Ability to analyze electric circuits, schematics, assemblies, and manufacturing processes using engineering fundamentals, FMEA, and fault trees. - Professional fluency in English and effective communication skills in a fast-paced corporate environment. - Experience in interpreting, evaluating, testing, and writing reports to product safety standards. - Strong presentation skills to communicate technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences. - Capability to maintain partnerships with vendor safety departments, contractors, and third-party agencies for product design qualification. - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the year.
