About the role
Product Safety Engineer. This position is offered in the Product Safety Engineering department within Apple's Product Integrity organization. Our mission is to ensure that Apple products meet international safety standards and regulations, and those requirements benefit Apple's brand and the highest expectations. Apple's Product Safety Group seeks a high energy, poised, data-driven, and detailed-oriented engineer with background in electrical/electronics engineering or material science, to support safety engineering design, testing, and continuous improvement strategies. The position requires expertise in the application, interpretation, and development of Product Safety Standards - product commercialisation. Exercise a deep understanding of Apple products and work with cross-functional teams to identify and address related safety requirements and resolve design challenges for new technologies and consumer products. Conduct Safety compliance testing, report writing, and acquire certifications, not limited to CB or related schemes. Drive product design for safety and compliance to global standards as promulgated by IEC/EN/UL/CSA, along with related test equipment, test procedures, and agency requirements. Using scientific methods, conduct design of experiments and failure analyses for purposes of evaluating product performance and safe operation. Own and drive the safety aspects of Apple products, and negotiate corresponding design processes and reviews at the system and module levels. Develop an understanding of manufacturing processes to identify potential manufacturing defects that can lead to safety issues. Work with suppliers to ensure product safety is addressed and maintained during production. Conducting detailed failure analysis and documenting lessons learned for future implementations.
