Lead AI Engineer / Sr. Lead Data Scientist

ROLE OVERVIEW Ascent Healthcare is seeking a high-impact Senior AI Engineer / Senior Data Scientist to join our growing technology team. This is a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) role where you will architect and deliver cutting-edge AI/ML solutions that directly transform healthcare outcomes. You will work at the intersection of GenAI, LLMs, and classical ML designing intelligent systems, driving innovation, and mentoring junior engineers in a fast-paced Agile environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design and build end-to-end AI/ML pipelines including data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment. Develop and fine-tune LLMs, embedding models, and GenAI applications using RAG, CAG, and prompt/context engineering techniques. Architect and implement AI Agents and multi-agent systems for complex, autonomous workflows. Apply NLP, deep learning, and semantic search solutions to real-world healthcare data challenges. Integrate AI solutions via APIs and deploy on cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) using MLOps and LLMOps best practices. Lead design reviews, code reviews, and enforce engineering best practices across the team. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders; translate requirements into scalable AI solutions. Drive R&D and proof-of-concept initiatives; stay current with emerging AI research and tooling. Mentor and coach junior data scientists and engineers; contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing. .
