About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Engineer with a passion for electric vehicle development, you will be responsible for designing and developing vehicle components and systems from scratch. Your key responsibilities will include: - Designing and developing vehicle structures, frames, and chassis systems for electric vehicles used in off-road, agriculture, and industrial applications. - Integrating hydraulic systems including cylinder layouts, valve placement, and load balancing for optimal functional performance. - Developing and optimizing kinematic mechanisms for lifting, steering / articulation, and movement systems. - Supporting gearbox design / selection, mechanical transmission integration, and drive system packaging. - Performing engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design verification using FEA (Structural, Modal, Fatigue). - Applying strong experience in DFM/DFA/DFS principles and cost-effective design for manufacturing. - Creating verification and validation plans for the systems / sub-systems / components owned. - Generating 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs using SolidWorks. - Collaborating cross-functionally with sourcing, manufacturing, quality, service, and marketing teams. - Participating in prototype building, field testing, and iterative design validation. - Ensuring designs are aligned with industry standards, safety regulations, and reliability expectations. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. - 5+ years of experience in vehicle or machinery design (construction equipment, farming machinery, material movers, or automotive). - Strong knowledge of structural design, mechanics, hydraulic circuit and actuator design, kinematic linkages, motion systems, gearbox design, and selection. - Proficiency in SolidWorks is mandatory. - Strong foundation in physics, engineering, strength of materials, and machine design. - Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and field validation of mechanical systems. As a preferred attribute, exposure to EV drivetrain components and packaging challenges, problem-solving mindset, creativity, ability to generate patentable ideas, and the capability to work in a fast-paced startup environment would be beneficial.
