Database Administrator (DBA) - SQL Server

Role Overview: As a Junior MySQL & PostgreSQL Database Administrator with around 1 year of experience, you will be responsible for supporting the operation, and maintenance of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. Your role will involve working under the guidance of senior DBAs and contributing to database administration, monitoring setup & alerting, and Linux & system support. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the day-to-day administration of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in development, test, and production environments - Monitor database health, availability, and performance under senior DBA guidance - Perform routine DBA tasks such as user and role management, schema changes, log review, and support database start/stop, backups, restores, and basic recovery tasks Monitoring Setup & Alerting (Primary Skill Set): - Assist in setting up and maintaining database monitoring - Configure and tune alerts for critical metrics like CPU, memory, disk usage, database availability, replication health, slow queries, and connection counts - Analyze alerts and perform initial troubleshooting, escalating issues when needed - Work with senior DBAs to improve alert accuracy and noise reduction - Maintain monitoring dashboards and basic performance reports Linux & System Support: - Work in Linux environments to manage and support database systems - Use common Linux commands for file system navigation, log analysis, process, and disk usage monitoring Qualification Required: - 1 year of experience working with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL - Basic understanding of relational database fundamentals - Familiarity with Linux operating systems and standard Linux commands - Basic understanding of SQL Queries (Select, Insert, Update, Delete) - Good problem-solving and communication skills Additional Details: Exposure to MSSQL, basic scripting knowledge in Bash or Python, and awareness of cloud databases (AWS / Azure) is considered a plus.
