Junior Database Administrator - MySQL & PostgreSQL

As a Junior MySQL & PostgreSQL Database Administrator, your role involves supporting the operation and maintenance of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. You will be working under the guidance of senior DBAs, utilizing your foundational knowledge in database administration, database design concepts, and Linux systems commands. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the day-to-day administration of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases across development, test, and production environments. - Monitor database health, availability, and performance with guidance from senior DBAs. - Perform routine DBA tasks such as user and role management, schema changes, maintenance activities, log review, and database start/stop operations. - Support database backups, restores, and basic recovery tasks. - Understand and apply database design concepts including normalization, denormalization, primary keys, foreign keys, indexes, and constraints. - Assist application teams with table design and index recommendations. - Execute and validate database backup and restore procedures for MySQL and PostgreSQL. - Assist with patching, minor upgrades, and version changes under supervision. - Work in Linux environments to manage and support database systems using common Linux commands. - Respond to basic database issues and incidents, escalating when necessary. - Maintain documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures. - Participate in knowledge-sharing and learning sessions with senior DBAs. Qualifications Required: - Around 1 year of hands-on experience in MySQL and PostgreSQL database administration. - Good understanding of MySQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals, basic database design principles, and comfortable working in Linux environments.
