About the role
We are looking for a quality-obsessed Senior QA Engineer who brings a whole-team quality mindset and an automation-first approach to everything they do. This is not a traditional test-execution role — you will be a quality champion embedded in an agile squad, owning the full spectrum of quality engineering: from shift-left practices through API automation, performance engineering and post-release live monitoring. You will work in a fast-paced travel technology environment where quality is baked in from day one, not bolted on at the end.
Key Responsibilities
· Participate in sprint planning with meaningful test estimates based on complexity and scope · Identify browser, device, and OS test coverage targets · Champion the Test Pyramid philosophy — prioritise exhaustive API test suites over deep UI integration suites; push coverage as far down the stack as the defect signal allows. · Design and write additional test cases beyond acceptance criteria — focusing on edge cases, negative scenarios, boundary conditions, and critical persona-based journeys that serve as future automation candidates. · Apply exploratory testing techniques to uncover defects that scripted tests miss · Validate component-level and service-level API contracts — status codes, response schemas, payload correctness, error handling, and edge-case behaviour. · Extend API automation practices to cover authentication flows, rate limiting, data consistency across microservices, and inter-service dependency behaviour. · Leverage modern API testing tools where appropriate — Playwright API mode, REST Assured, k6 for scripted API load scenarios — and contribute to tooling decisions. · Author and maintain Priority 1 UI end-to-end regression suites using Playwright (preferred) or Cypress, covering critical booking and transactional flows across web and mobile web. · Conduct client-side performance analysis before every production release — capturing Core Web Vitals: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Total Blocking Time (TBT), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), First Byte Time, and Window "text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; margin: 2.0pt 0cm 2.0pt 50.0pt;"> · Design and execute server-side performance and load tests using the in-house K6 / Node.js performance framework — simulating realistic HTTP/S traffic patterns mirroring production URL and endpoint sequences. · Collect and publish server-side metrics via AppInsights and Grafana: 90p/95p/99p response times per API endpoint and dependency, 2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx response code distributions, Server Exceptions, and Failed/Timed-Out Dependencies. · Monitor application health post-release using AppInsights and use Kibana for log analysis
· Strong hands-on proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript for API test automation using any NodeJS package and Postman Collections. · Solid understanding of REST API principles — HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication schemes (OAuth2, JWT, API keys), and JSON/XML payload validation. · Hands-on experience with Playwright or Cypress for cross-browser UI automation — including parallel execution, test isolation, and visual regression. · Experience with mobile automation using Appium, Espresso for iOS and Android coverage.
· Hands-on experience with K6 or Locust for server-side load and performance testing · Familiarity with client-side performance tooling: WebPageTest or Lighthouse — and ability to interpret Core Web Vitals and request waterfall data. Experience reading and interpreting AppInsights or Grafana dashboards for 90p/95p/99p response time analysis, error rate tracking, and dependency performance
