About the role
Description : Role : Technical Delivery Manager Experience : 8+ Years Location : Bangalore / Hyderabad (Hybrid) Role Summary : The Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) is a high-stakes, strategic leadership position designed to act as the primary catalyst for predictable, disciplined, and high-velocity engineering output. While the role focuses on execution rather than direct code contribution, it requires a deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Orchestration to bridge the gap between UK-based product strategy and India-based technical execution. You will be the single point of accountability for the Engineering Roadmap, responsible for converting high-level vision into granular, data-driven execution plans. Your mission is to move beyond simple project tracking and instead instill a culture of professional accountability, automated reporting, and proactive risk mitigation, ensuring that the offshore delivery center operates as a seamless extension of the global product organization. Responsibilities : - Roadmap Architecture & Timeline Governance : Translate high-level strategic goals into a structured, technical roadmap, defining critical path milestones, multi-squad dependencies, and hardware/cloud resource requirements. - Agile Operational Excellence : Lead the implementation and continuous optimization of Scrum and Kanban frameworks, driving team velocity, improving sprint predictability, and maintaining less than 10% deviation from committed delivery schedules. - Infrastructure for Support & Maintenance : Design and implement robust ITSM-aligned support structures, including Tier 1-3 triage workflows, automated escalation triggers, and strict SLA/SLO enforcement for production incidents. - Advanced Resource & Capacity Planning : Utilize data-driven models to track team utilization and workload balance, identifying skill-gap bottlenecks and underutilization trends before they impact the critical path. - Automated Delivery Reporting : Establish a "source-of-truth" reporting engine leveraging Git metadata and project management APIs (Jira/Azure DevOps) to provide real-time visibility into burndown, cycle time, and lead time without manual overhead. - Strategic Risk & Dependency Management : Architect a proactive risk management framework that accounts for vendor API dependencies, third-party integrations, and human capital risks (Succession Planning/Absence Management). - Cross-Continental Stakeholder Alignment : Serve as the high-bandwidth communication bridge between India Engineering and UK Product/Executive teams, translating technical impediments into business risks and vice versa. - Non-Technical Engineering Mentorship : Coach and mentor engineering teams on professional discipline, effective peer-review habits, structured status reporting, and the "ownership" of end-to-end deliverables. - Vendor & API Governance : Act as the primary coordinator for external vendors and third-party service providers, ensuring that external dependencies are tracked and integrated into the primary roadmap. - Maintenance & Tech Debt Strategy : Partner with Engineering Managers to balance the backlog between high-value feature development, "Keep the Lights On" (KTLO) activities, and the systematic reduction of technical debt. Technical Requirements : - Delivery Leadership : 8+ years of experience in Technical Program Management (TPM), Engineering Management, or as a Delivery Lead within high-scale software environments. - Metric-Driven Management : Proven expertise in defining and tracking DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, Time to Restore Service). - Agile Mastery : Deep proficiency in managing complex, multi-team dependencies using Scaled Agile or advanced Scrum/Kanban methodologies. - SDLC Governance : Strong understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows (GitFlow/Trunk-based), and automated testing impact on delivery timelines. - Tooling Expertise : Advanced proficiency in Jira/Confluence, Microsoft Project, or equivalent Enterprise PPM tools for roadmap visualization and reporting. - Operational Frameworks : Experience in building Incident Management and Problem Management workflows based on ITIL or SRE principles. Preferred Skills : - International Stakeholder Management : Previous experience working with UK, US, or European stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional cross-cultural communication and verbal English proficiency. - Strategic Problem Solving : Ability to deconstruct complex technical bottlenecks into logical, actionable workstreams for the engineering team. - Proactive Accountability : A track record of identifying delivery risks weeks in advance and presenting "solution-first" mitigation plans to executive leadership. - Process Engineering : A passion for continuous improvement, moving beyond "following the process to "designing the process that optimizes engineering flow. - Conflict Resolution : Strong interpersonal skills to manage competing priorities between Product (Features) and Engineering (Stability/Debt).
