SolidWorks Designer / Mechanical Design Engineer Company: Nigasavi Solutions LLP Location: Pune, Maharashtra Department: Design & Product Development Employment Type: Full-Time (Work from Office) About the Role Nigasavi Solutions LLP is seeking a talented and detail-oriented SolidWorks Designer / Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design & Product Development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, enclosures, tooling, fixtures, and industrial products. The role involves transforming concepts, sketches, customer requirements, and physical samples into accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and complete design documentation. The candidate will work closely with production, quality, suppliers, and product development teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and production-ready. Key Responsibilities:- Create detailed 3D part models and assemblies using SolidWorks. Prepare manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, surface finish requirements, and production notes. Design sheet metal components, machined parts, fabricated structures, fixtures, brackets, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies. Generate assembly drawings, exploded views, installation drawings, and technical illustrations. Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs). Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure component fitment. Apply GD&T principles as required. Modify designs based on testing results, production feedback, customer requirements, and engineering changes. Review designs for manufacturability and cost optimization. Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing teams for prototype development and production support. Conduct prototype inspection and dimensional verification. Maintain drawing revisions, engineering documentation, and change-control records. Support design validation, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities. Generate manufacturing files including STEP, IGES, DXF, STL, PDF, and related formats. Ensure compliance with company design standards, revision-control procedures, and documentation practices. Required Skills:- Proficiency in SolidWorks Part Modeling, Assembly Modeling, and Drafting. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, fits, and surface finishes. Experience in SolidWorks Sheet Metal. Knowledge of machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, bending, laser cutting, and manufacturing processes. Basic understanding of plastic part design and injection molding. Ability to convert concepts, samples, and sketches into manufacturable designs. Familiarity with standard mechanical components such as bearings, fasteners, shafts, seals, bushes, gears, springs, and connectors. Ability to identify assembly interferences and manufacturing issues. Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Preferred Skills:- SolidWorks Simulation, Motion Study, or basic FEA. Experience in enclosure design for industrial or electronic products. Experience in designing jigs, fixtures, automotive components, and industrial equipment. Knowledge of DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly). Basic AutoCAD knowledge. Experience with ERP, PDM, PLM, or document-control systems. Understanding of 3D printing and rapid prototyping. Exposure to reverse engineering techniques. Educational Qualification:- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in: Mechanical Engineering Production Engineering Automobile Engineering Tool Engineering Or related disciplines SolidWorks certification or formal training will be an added advantage. Experience:- Preferred: 3 to 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design using SolidWorks. Freshers with strong SolidWorks skills, a quality design portfolio, and knowledge of manufacturing processes may also be considered. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should:- Be technically curious and eager to learn. Demonstrate strong attention to detail. Be comfortable handling multiple design projects simultaneously. Be willing to visit shop floors, supplier facilities, and testing locations when required. Take ownership of designs from concept to production. Have a practical understanding of manufacturing, assembly, quality, and cost considerations. Thrive in a fast-growing product development and manufacturing environment.
