Role Overview: As the Telematics Hardware Engineering Manager at Bytebeam, you will lead the development of automotive telematics hardware from concept to field readiness. This player-coach role will require you to be involved in architecture, design reviews, bring-up, validation, manufacturing, field issues, and firmware-level debugging when necessary. Collaboration with firmware, cloud, manufacturing, validation, and business teams will be essential to deliver robust products that excel in real-world scenarios. Key Responsibilities: - Product and Architecture Ownership: - Own end-to-end hardware architecture for automotive telematics devices. - Translate system requirements into board-level architecture, interface choices, and validation strategy. - Drive design decisions across various subsystems like cellular/LTE, GNSS, Bluetooth, CAN/OBD, automotive electronics, sensor, storage, and debug. - Review schematics, PCB layouts, power architecture, RF decisions, and component choices with a focus on reliability and manufacturability. - Team Leadership and Execution: - Build, manage, and mentor the hardware engineering team. - Set milestones, execution plans, and review mechanisms for development, bring-up, validation, and release. - Work cross-functionally with other teams to align hardware execution with product goals. - Development, Bring-up, and Debug: - Guide new board development from Proof of Concept to production hardware. - Support board bring-up, validation, interface testing, and system-level debugging. - Drive root-cause analysis across various issues and collaborate with firmware teams for hardware-software integration. - Compliance, Reliability, and Field Readiness: - Own validation planning for functional correctness, compliance, environmental reliability, and real-world use cases. - Ensure readiness for automotive and telematics requirements. - Establish automotive development process standards and work with external partners when necessary. - Manufacturing and Supplier Ownership: - Drive execution with vendors, EMS partners, and component suppliers. - Partner with operations and supply-chain teams for ramp readiness and field performance. - Ensure products transition smoothly from development to scale. - Product Feedback Loop: - Close the loop between field issues, telemetry insights, validation learnings, and hardware revisions. - Enhance observability in devices for remote diagnosis. - Maintain documentation, revision control, and decision logs. Qualification Required: - Must-Have Skills: - 10+ years of embedded hardware development experience in automotive telematics. - Strong expertise in hardware design, schematic review, PCB design, and system debugging. - Knowledge of cellular/LTE, GNSS, CAN/OBD, EMI/EMC, and RF debug. - Experience in compliance, reliability engineering, and automotive standards. - Ability to lead teams effectively and drive problem-solving at a system level. - Good-to-Have (Strong Plus): - Experience with telematics compliance workflows. - Familiarity with LTE products, GNSS performance validation, eSIM, and vehicle diagnostics. - Exposure to various communication interfaces, simulation tools, and manufacturing test strategies. - Knowledge of device-cloud workflows and firmware debugging.
