Sr. IT Engineer - iSeries

Architecture & Design • Implement and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance IBM i system architectures. • Support infrastructure strategies for business continuity, disaster recovery, and future growth. • Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to the IBM i platform. System Management • Install, configure, and maintain IBM i operating systems. • Manage OS upgrades, PTFs, and hardware refresh cycles. • Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and tuning. • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues. • Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures using BRMS. • Ensure high availability and reliability of IBM i systems. • Plan, organize, and implement technical projects. Security & Compliance • Implement and maintain security policies, user access controls, and audit procedures. • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI, Gaming Control Boards). Automation & Scripting • Develop and maintain scripts for system and storage administration using CL and SQL. • Utilize configuration management tools such as PM400 and iNavigator. Collaboration & Leadership • Collaborate with application development, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff. • Serve as a team representative for IBM i-related projects and initiatives. • Provide technical support to developers, platform administrators, and other teams. • Diagnose and resolve complex system and storage issues. • Participate in after-hours system deployments and maintenance. • Participate in on-call rotation. Documentation & Reporting • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies. • Generate reports on system health, performance, and usage metrics.
