Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VSAT Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) systems. This role requires a strong understanding of satellite communication principles, RF engineering, and network protocols. The VSAT Engineer will ensure the reliable operation of satellite communication links for our clients, often in remote and challenging environments. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive site surveys to determine optimal VSAT installation locations, considering line-of-sight, power availability, and environmental factors. Install, configure, and commission VSAT hardware, including antennas, BUCs (Block Upconverters), LNBs (Low-Noise Block downconverters), modems (e.g., iDirect, Comtech, Hughes), and associated networking equipment. Conduct precise antenna alignment and polarization adjustments to optimize signal strength and quality. Configure and manage satellite modems, routers, switches, and firewalls to establish and maintain reliable network connectivity over satellite links. Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on VSAT systems to ensure continuous operation. Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to satellite links, RF components, network connectivity (TCP/IP), and power systems. Utilize spectrum analyzers, signal meters, and other test equipment to diagnose and resolve performance issues. Monitor VSAT link performance, identify potential problems, and implement proactive solutions to prevent service interruptions. Provide expert technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams, explaining technical concepts clearly and concisely. Maintain accurate documentation of all installations, configurations, maintenance activities, and inventory. Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies during field operations and equipment handling. Collaborate effectively with Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel for system integration, monitoring, and advanced troubleshooting. Participate in on-call rotations and be available for emergency support as required. Travel to various client sites, including remote and international locations, for installations and service calls.
