About the role
Role Overview The DevOps Team Leader is responsible for leading the DevOps function, driving automation, improving deployment pipelines, and ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of systems. This role bridges development and operations, enabling faster and more reliable software delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor the DevOps team, setting technical direction and best practices Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery Drive infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) for performance, cost, and reliability Collaborate with development, QA, and security teams to streamline release cycles Ensure system monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms are in place Maintain DR readiness and testing Improve system reliability, availability, and scalability through proactive measures Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and pipelines Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reviews Optimize DevOps processes to improve deployment frequency and reduce failure rates Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies to enhance productivity Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field 610 years of experience in DevOps, with at least 23 years in a leadership role Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.) Strong Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) Linux system administration skills Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar) Strong understanding of networking, security, and system architecture Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc.) Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies Experience with cost optimization tools in AWS Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Kubernetes certifications Experience in security compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS) Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices Leadership & Soft Skills Strong leadership and team management abilities Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills Effective communication and stakeholder management with documentation skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Continuous improvement mindset Key Metrics / KPIs Deployment frequency Change failure rate Mean time to recovery (MTTR) Infrastructure uptime and reliability Automation coverage Role Overview The DevOps Team Leader is responsible for leading the DevOps function, driving automation, improving deployment pipelines, and ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of systems.
