Job Description We are looking for two senior hands-on engineers of a similar skill level to support the transfer, ownership and further development of a production service called Decision Engine. This is not intended to be a supplier-led delivery pod with a separate supplier tech lead. However, candidates should demonstrate senior technical judgement, and at least one candidate should have experience leading or heavily contributing to production service transitions, cloud migrations, operational readiness, and technical discovery of existing systems. The initial focus will be on taking safe engineering ownership of the service: migrating the service into AWS accounts and GitHub organization, validating infrastructure and deployment pipelines, documenting operational responsibilities, and ensuring the service can be supported confidently in production. Once ownership transfer is complete, the engineers will move into feature development and service improvement work. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to people who are comfortable across application development, AWS serverless infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational support. Expected activities include Understand the existing Decision Engine architecture, codebases and runtime dependencies. Support migration of repositories into the GitHub organization. Support transfer or recreation of AWS infrastructure into organization owned AWS accounts. Validate infrastructure-as-code, deployment pipelines, environment configuration and secrets handling. Review and improve CI/CD, PR controls, security scanning and release processes. Review current observability, alerts, dashboards, and incident routes. Confirm operational readiness, including CloudWatch, Datadog and PagerDuty integrations. Identify any manually configured infrastructure or undocumented operational processes. Produce clear handover documentation, runbooks and technical ownership notes. Highlight risks, technical debt and immediate remediation priorities. Ongoing responsibilities After the initial transition phase, the engineers will support feature development and ongoing service improvement. Responsibilities will include Develop and maintain Node.js/Typescript Lambda services. Build and enhance Next.js-based internal portals, including admin and solver portals. Work with shared frontend component libraries published through GitHub Packages. Implement changes using Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure. Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline and CodeBuild. Work with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Cognito, S3 and CloudWatch. Support secure and maintainable IAM, networking and VPC configuration. Contribute to release planning, release coordination and production deployment. Improve automated testing, including unit, integration and service-level tests. Support operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, logging and incident response. Work collaboratively with other engineers, product owners and data science teams. Support future integration work involving LLMs, Bedrock AgentCore, and productionisation of data science outputs where relevant. Technical environment The service uses a modern AWS-based stack including: AWS Lambda API Gateway Terraform AWS CodePipeline / CodeBuild DynamoDB DocumentDB Cognito CloudWatch Datadog PagerDuty integrations GitHub, including PR controls and security scanning GitHub Packages Next.js Node.js / TypeScript Contentful integrations Infrastructure-as-code and automated release pipelines The application layer includes Node.js Lambda services Next.js admin portal Next.js solver portal Shared frontend component library Essential skills Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in: AWS serverless architecture and production service ownership. AWS Well-Architected / Operational Excellence practices. Node.js and TypeScript. Next.js / React application development. Terraform and infrastructure-as-code. CI/CD engineering and release pipelines. AWS Lambda, API Gateway and event-driven/serverless patterns. DynamoDB or similar NoSQL data stores. AWS IAM, security controls and least-privilege access design. AWS networking concepts, including VPCs, endpoints, routing and private connectivity. AWS Cognito, including user pools, federation, claims and authorizatio Job Description We are looking for two senior hands-on engineers of a similar skill level to support the transfer, ownership and further development of a production service called Decision Engine.
