About the role
Role & responsibilities POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the primary administrator for Dell PowerScale and ECS storage systems. This includes cluster administration, monitoring system health, and ensuring optimal performance and availability. Create, configure, and manage file shares, quotas, access zones, and S3 buckets according to company policies and business needs. Conduct regular capacity and performance monitoring. Analyze workload requirements and provide proactive suggestions for performance tuning and capacity remediation. Manage and implement data protection strategies, including snapshots, replication using tools like SyncIQ, and disaster recovery planning and testing for both PowerScale and ECS. Isolate and troubleshoot complex storage incidents, resolve severity issues, and perform root cause analysis for recurring problems. Plan and execute storage product upgrades, firmware updates, and patching to maintain system security and functionality. Configure and manage access control lists (ACLs), permissions, and security settings on both platforms. Implement security hardening best practices. Manage data migration activities, including migrating data between storage platforms or tiering data from PowerScale to ECS for cost optimization. Utilize scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and streamline storage administration processes. Maintain comprehensive documentation for storage runbooks, knowledge base articles, and disaster recovery procedures. Act as a point of contact for Dell Technologies support, opening and managing service requests as needed. Participate in on-call rotation. III. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS Deep knowledge of PowerScales OneFS, including the Job Engine, cluster administration, CloudPools and security features. Experience with Dell ECS for object storage, including S3 protocol, bucket policies, and user management. Familiarity with storage networking concepts, including NFS, SMB, and S3 protocols. Familiarity with Superna Eyeglass, including Ransomware Defender. Familiarity with NetApp AFF/FAS clusters (SnapMirror, Flexclones, FabricPool, etc.) running OnTap 9.12+ is a plus. Experience with Dell management tools such as InsightIQ, SCG, and CloudIQ. Working knowledge of CloudSoda or Komprise for data analytics and data management. Understanding of public cloud storage services (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) and their integration with tools like CloudPools, Komprise and CloudSoda. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and priorities effectively. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a high-pressure environment. Excellent verbal and written communications skills for documentation, team collaboration, and interaction with vendor support. IV. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 5+ years experience with medium to large storage environments as Storage Administrator. Relevant Dell Technologies certifications.
