A VMware L3 Administrator is responsible for designing, administering, troubleshooting, and optimizing enterprise VMware virtualization infrastructure. The role focuses on handling complex (Level-3) technical issues, implementing recent solutions, and ensuring high availability of virtualized environments. VMware L3 Administrator Job Description Job Title: VMware L3 Administrator Experience: 815+ Years Location: MountRoad Chennai Employment Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities - Manage and administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments. - Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching of VMware infrastructure. - Provide L3 support for critical VMware incidents and perform root cause analysis (RCA). - Configure and manage: - vMotion - Storage vMotion - HA (High Availability) - DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) - FT (Fault Tolerance) - Distributed Switches (VDS) - Administer VMware vSAN and storage integration. - Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization. - Manage VM provisioning, cloning, templates, snapshots, and lifecycle management. - Implement disaster recovery solutions using VMware SRM or equivalent. - Monitor VMware infrastructure using tools such as vRealize Operations (vROps). - Work with storage, backup, networking, and security teams to resolve infrastructure issues. - Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles. - Participate in on-call support and maintenance activities. Required Skills - VMware vSphere 6.x/7.x/8.x - ESXi Host Administration - VMware vCenter Server - vMotion & Storage vMotion - HA, DRS, FT - VMware vSAN - VMware Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) - Distributed Virtual Switch (VDS) - VM Templates & Cloning - Snapshot Management - Resource Pools - Datastores (VMFS, NFS, iSCSI, FC) - Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting - VMware PowerCLI scripting - Windows Server and Linux administration - DNS, DHCP, Active Directory - Backup tools (Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup) - Basic SAN and Networking concepts (VLAN, TCP/IP) Preferred Skills - VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) - VMware NSX - VMware Horizon VDI - Azure VMware Solution (AVS) - VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) - VMware Aria (vRealize Suite) - Automation using PowerShell/PowerCLI - Exposure to AWS/Azure virtualization Certifications (Preferred) - VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) - VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) - VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) optional - Microsoft Azure Administrator - Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Responsibilities in Production - Resolve P1/P2 incidents within SLA. - Perform RCA for recurring VMware issues. - Execute infrastructure upgrades and migrations. - Ensure VMware security compliance. - Monitor infrastructure health and utilization. - Support audits and change management. - Mentor L1/L2 administrators. .
