As part of our expansion strategy, CMR is establishing a new Aluminium Ingots and Liquid Aluminium manufacturing plant at Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu , with a total installed capacity of 36,000 MTPA , to be developed in phases.
Position: Area Head - Hot Refining

Qualification :
Essential : Candidate should have full time bachelor’s degree in mechanical/ Metallurgy / Production or allied Engineering, from reputed institute.
Desired : Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Production or Chemical Engineering or in Operation Management.
Experience :
Essential : 7+ years of experience in hot refining, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Desired:
·Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (lean, Six Sigma).
·Prior experience in managing safety programs within the refining sector.
Deployment Plan
The selected candidate will initially be deployed at an existing CMR manufacturing facility to gain deeper exposure to CMR's refining technology, operating practices, quality standards, and organizational culture.
Based on business requirements, the candidate may subsequently be assigned to support upcoming plant expansion projects, including project planning, equipment commissioning, process stabilization, and operational readiness activities before transitioning into full-scale plant operations leadership.
Key Responsibilities
During Project Phase
Project Planning & Execution
·Lead hot refining-related activities during plant setup and expansion projects.
·Review plant layouts, process flow design, furnace configuration, and utility requirements.
·Coordinate with Project, Engineering, Procurement, and Maintenance teams to ensure timely project execution.
Commissioning & Process Stabilization
·Lead installation, commissioning, and trial production activities of hot refining furnaces and associated equipment.
·Establish operating parameters, refining practices, and process control standards.
·Drive process stabilization and achieve targeted production and quality benchmarks.
SOP & System Development
·Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, Process Monitoring Sheets, and Quality Checkpoints.
·Establish operational controls for safety, quality, productivity, and resource utilization.
·Support ERP integration and process digitization initiatives.
Team Readiness
·Participate in manpower planning and workforce deployment.
·Train operational teams on refining processes, safety practices, and quality standards before commercial production.
During Plant Operations
Process Management
·Lead and manage day-to-day hot refining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production.
·Monitor refining parameters, alloy composition, recovery rates, melt losses, and dross generation.
·Drive process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Production Planning & Control
·Develop and execute production plans aligned with customer demand and plant capacity.
·Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, equipment, raw materials, and energy resources.
·Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
Quality Assurance
·Ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
·Collaborate with Quality teams to analyze deviations, implement corrective actions, and reduce process variability.
·Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield enhancement and defect reduction.
Safety, Health & Environment
·Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies, statutory requirements, and internal safety standards.
·Promote a zero-harm culture through proactive risk assessment and safety initiatives.
·Ensure compliance with pollution control and environmental regulations.
Team Leadership
·Lead, mentor, and develop the refining team to build operational capability and leadership pipeline.
·Define performance objectives, conduct reviews, and support employee development initiatives.
·Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement
·Identify opportunities for reducing operational costs and improving refining efficiency.
·Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
·Monitor energy consumption, material recovery, and overall process economics.
Equipment Reliability
·Coordinate with Maintenance teams for preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
·Ensure high equipment availability and minimal downtime.
·Support reliability improvement projects for critical refining assets.
Reporting & Governance
·Prepare and present reports on production performance, quality, safety, costs, and operational KPIs.
·Provide recommendations to management for process enhancement and capacity improvement.

·Candidate should not be a frequent job changer.
·Notice Period Maximum 30 Days (Buyout option can be considered for suitable candidates).
