Full-Stack Product Engineer, Production Monitoring (Pune)

Position: Full-Stack Product Engineer, Production Monitoring Reports to: Head of Engineering / CEO Works with: Lead Developer (MetisEI Production Monitoring) Location: Pune, India Type: Full-time, permanent Experience: 4+ years commercial software engineering Purpose of the role: To take ownership of defined modules within MetisEI Production Monitoring so that development runs in parallel rather than through a single engineer. Each hire will own a bounded module end-to-end schema, API, and user interface working to agreed interface contracts with the rest of the platform. Key responsibilities: - Design and maintain relational schemas in Azure Database for PostgreSQL, extending the existing process node data model. - Build and maintain REST APIs serving live production data output, cycle counts, downtime, scrap, rework, labour utilisation. - Build front-end interfaces used daily by line leaders, plant management and group functions. These must be usable on a phone, on a shop floor, by a non-technical user. - Implement downtime and stoppage logging, threshold alerting, and escalation logic. - Consume machine data ingested via Azure IoT Hub and reconcile it against manually captured production data. - Write automated tests for all business logic. Any calculation that drives a bonus, a KPI or a management decision must be covered by tests. - Document schemas, interfaces and architectural decisions as work is completed not retrospectively. - Support multi-site rollout across four countries, including timezone, language and shift-pattern differences. Essential requirements: - 4+ years building and shipping production systems that real users depend on daily. Prototype and demo experience alone is not sufficient. - Strong relational database design normalisation, indexing, query performance, migrations. PostgreSQL preferred. - Backend development in Python and/or Node.js, with REST API design experience. - Front-end development in React (or equivalent contemporary framework), including responsive/mobile layouts. - Cloud platform experience Azure strongly preferred, AWS or GCP considered. - Disciplined use of version control, branching and code review. - Demonstrable habit of writing tests and documentation. This is a hard requirement, not a preference. - Written and spoken English sufficient to work with colleagues in the UK, Mexico and China. Desirable: - Manufacturing, MES, OEE or industrial systems exposure. - Time-series data at volume. - IoT / MQTT / Azure IoT Hub. - Multi-tenant or multi-site software architecture. - Spanish (useful for the Mexico plant, not required). What we are not looking for - Engineers who work fast by working alone. Single-point-of-failure development is explicitly what this hire exists to remove. - Anyone unwilling to document their work or hand it over. .
