Data Engineer - Python/SQL

Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Python. - Build and manage integrations with internal and external systems through RESTful APIs and other data exchange mechanisms. - Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects. - Collect, transform, validate, and load structured and unstructured data from multiple sources. - Work closely with business stakeholders, portfolio managers, analysts, and technology teams to understand data requirements. - Ensure high levels of data accuracy, integrity, consistency, and availability across platforms. - Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms for data pipelines and integrations. - Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes. - Support data warehousing, reporting, and analytics initiatives. - Participate in architecture discussions and recommend best practices for data engineering solutions. - Create and maintain technical documentation for data workflows and system integrations. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile development environments. Required Technical Skills: Programming & Data Engineering: - Strong proficiency in Python development. - Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data processing workflows. - Expertise in working with APIs (REST, JSON, XML). - Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts. - Experience with data transformation and data validation techniques. Database Technologies: - Advanced SQL development skills. - Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, or similar. - Ability to optimize query performance and troubleshoot database issues. - Understanding of database design principles and data modeling concepts. Financial Domain Knowledge: - Experience working in Financial Services, Asset Management, Wealth Management, Investment Banking, or Capital Markets environments. - Understanding of investment management workflows, portfolio data, market data, securities, and financial instruments. - Familiarity with financial reporting and regulatory data requirements is highly desirable. Preferred Skills: - Experience with React.js for developing data-driven user interfaces. - Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - Experience with data warehousing solutions and data lakes. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. - Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Experience with modern orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect. - Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
