Senior Process Engineer Water & Wastewater Treatment Location: Perungudi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu (Full-time, on-site) Experience: 10 - 15 years Industry: Construction / Infrastructure / Water Treatment Employment Type: Full Time About the Role We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design, engineering, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment systems. You will own treatment solutions end to end, from concept design through commissioning, preparing process documentation, evaluating new technologies, and ensuring every system meets project specs, environmental regulations, and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Carry out process design, engineering, and process calculations for water and wastewater treatment systems (STP, ETP, WTP). Perform hydraulic calculations, mass balance, and system sizing for treatment plants. Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), process design reports, and technical specifications. Evaluate raw water and wastewater characteristics (TDS, COD, BOD, TSS, turbidity, pH, conductivity) and select the right treatment technologies. Integrate advanced technologies such as MBR, MBBR, UF, RO, SBR, ASP, ceramic membrane filtration, electrocoagulation (EC), and DAF systems into new and existing plants. Support project execution across Greenfield, Brownfield, and Greyfield projects, including new builds, expansions, and retrofits. Drive process optimization, troubleshooting, and performance improvement during operation and commissioning. Must-Have Requirements Minimum 8 years of core, end-to-end process design experience for STP, ETP, and WTP projects within the water treatment industry. Hands-on experience with Greenfield, Brownfield, or Greyfield projects. Designed STP, ETP, or WTP projects with capacity up to at least 20 MLD. End-to-end experience in process design, process engineering, and optimization for water treatment projects. Experience integrating advanced treatment technologies such as MBR, MBBR, and SBR. Strong technical expertise in process design and hydraulic calculations. Proven experience preparing PFDs, P&IDs, and process design reports. At least 50% of overall work experience focused on STP projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or Process Engineering. Master's degree is an added advantage. Nice to Have Working knowledge of engineering tools such as BioWin, Bentley, WAVE, IMS, etc. Chemical Engineering background preferred.
