SQL Server Database Developer

Position: SQL Server Database Developer, Job ID: 514 Location: Kolkata Position: 1 Primary Skill: MS SQL Server Experience: Minimum 4 Years CTC: Upto Rs.10.00 LPA Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Certification in SQL Server or database management is highly desirable but not mandatory. Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Developer to design, implement, and optimize databases in alignment with business needs. This role involves using MS SQL Server and T-SQL for developing stored procedures, functions, and other database objects while continuously analyzing and optimizing them for performance improvements. The candidate will play a critical role in ensuring efficient and secure database operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business-driven goals. Key Responsibilities: Database Design & Implementation : Design and structure databases based on business requirements, ensuring they meet both functional and performance standards. Develop and implement database schemas, tables, relationships, and other required database objects to ensure efficient data management and retrieval. T-SQL Development : Write, optimize, and maintain T-SQL code for stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views. Ensure that code is scalable, efficient, and adheres to best practices. Query Performance Optimization : Analyze and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to enhance database performance. Perform regular performance tuning tasks such as query optimization, indexing, and reducing execution time for complex queries. Database Troubleshooting : Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, data discrepancies, and any other database-related issues. Investigate and address issues related to deadlocks, query failures, or slow performance. Data Integrity & Security : Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards. Implement backup, restore, and recovery strategies to ensure data protection. Collaboration with Business & Technical Teams : Work closely with business analysts, software developers, and system administrators to understand business requirements and propose efficient database solutions. Ensure seamless integration with applications and other systems. Database Maintenance : Regularly monitor database performance, conduct indexing and defragmentation, and manage database consistency checks. Perform database upgrades and migrations as needed. Documentation : Document database structures, procedures, functions, and any changes made to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and provide clear guidelines for future reference. Continuous Improvement : Stay updated with the latest developments in SQL Server technologies and best practices. Suggest and implement improvements to existing systems and processes. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum Experience : At least 4 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server database development and optimization. Technical Skills : Strong expertise in MS SQL Server and T-SQL . Proven ability to design and implement complex database structures and manage large data sets. Proficient in database performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, and analyzing execution plans. Solid understanding of Database Security (user permissions, encryption, etc.) and Data Integrity principles. Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) , SQL Profiler , and other tools for query optimization and troubleshooting. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a keen ability to analyze and resolve database issues. Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Ability to work with large, complex data sets and implement best practices for efficient data management. Soft Skills : Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work. Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Proactive, self-driven, and able to manage tasks independently. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Desirable Experience: Experience in other SQL-based technologies or frameworks (e.g., SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) , SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) ) is a plus. Experience in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database ) is a plus. Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA , Confluence ) is advantageous.
