Founding Engineer

As a Founding Engineer at Meraki Labs, you will be responsible for shipping production-grade AI-first products in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in turning ambiguous problem statements into concrete solutions while owning the architecture, quality, and production-readiness of the products. Your role will involve working closely with exceptional founders, mentoring your Full Stack partner, and setting technical standards for the startup idea you are working on. Key Responsibilities: - Ship 0-to-1: Transform ambiguous problem statements into live, production-grade products within weeks, covering frontend, backend, data, and integrations. - Build AI-native: Utilize modern AI IDEs such as Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, and Copilot as your default workflow, while ensuring a balance between automation and human architecture. - Own the whole stack: Develop modern frontends, backend services, data layers, and third-party + LLM API integrations, emphasizing collaboration and code quality. - Set the rails: Establish architecture, code standards, and review discipline for your Junior Full Stack partner to maintain high velocity without incurring technical debt. - Make production-grade calls: Implement authentication, security, error handling, observability, and graceful failure mechanisms to ensure a robust system for real users. Qualifications Required: - Genuine full-stack depth with proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind for frontend, and Node.js / Python / Java for backend. - Demonstrated AI-Native Velocity with a track record of shipping products fast using AI tooling like Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot. - Experience in AI App Layer technologies such as LLM API integration, RAG pipelines, and vector DBs, along with cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Strong bias towards shipping, comfort with ambiguity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
