About the role
As a Connected Services Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the performance, reliability, and optimisation of cellular connectivity across connected vehicles. This includes working across the full connectivity stackfrom in-vehicle telematics control units (TCUs) to telecom carrier networks and IoT platform providers. You will proactively monitor network performance, investigate complex issues, and collaborate with external partners to ensure high availability and continuous improvement of connectivity services. Connectivity Operations Manage end-to-end cellular connectivity across TCUs, carrier networks, and IoT/M2M platformsEnsure high availability and reliability of connected vehicle servicesPlatform & SIM Management Manage SIM lifecycle, including provisioning, activation, and rate plan configurationConfigure and maintain APNs (Access Point Names), IP addressing (IPv4/IPv6), and QoS (Quality of Service)Monitoring & Analytics Monitor KPIs such as Customer Success Rate and No Response ratesUse tools like Splunk and dashboards to detect anomalies and trendsTroubleshooting & RCA Perform deep root cause analysis across multi-layered systems (device, network, platform)Lead resolution of complex connectivity issues impacting customersVendor Management Act as technical liaison for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and IoT platform vendorsTrack and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs)Automation & Optimisation Design automation rules for SIM management and activation workflowsImprove operational efficiency through scripting and process optimisationStrategic Initiatives Assess network performance, capacity, and risk areasSupport adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., 5G, eSIM)Reporting Prepare performance reports and summaries for technical and business stakeholders Required Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field5+ years of experience in cellular networks, IoT/M2M connectivity, or telematicsStrong understanding of: 3G/4G/5G network architectureIP networking (IPv4/IPv6)APNs and QoS conceptsHands-on experience with IoT/M2M platforms (e.g., Cisco Jasper, Ericsson DCP)Experience managing MNO/vendor relationships and SLAsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills (RCA)Experience with monitoring/analytics tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, QlikSense)Preferred Scripting experience (Python, SQL)Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)Familiarity with connected vehicle / automotive communication systemsExperience with automation in large-scale connectivity environments As a Connected Services Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the performance, reliability, and optimisation of cellular connectivity across connected vehicles.
