System Administrator

Under limited supervision, performs system administration & planning for all aspects of GWT- IT- infrastructure. Provide a reliable, durable & cost- effective solutions for all GK IT related needs. Job Responsibilities: Perform a wide range of system administration duties on windows, Linux and VMware servers including install, debug, maintain, upgrade, and general support. Perform a wide range of network administration duties on all the routers and switches. Expert knowledge in scripting languages, like Perl, bash, etc. Maintain, upgrade and install key development tools, like, CVS, Bugzilla, etc. Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the company infrastructure. Proactive monitoring of all servers, machine, instruments and other applications and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA. Perform regular and on- demand system backups and recoveries. Assist in developing, implementing, testing and maintaining server level disaster recovery plans. Collect and review system data for capacity and planning purposes. Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures. Manage & troubleshoot networks, intranet & internet connectivity throughout the organization Maintain up- to- date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies. Research, evaluate and recommend system technologies to support business requirements. Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures. Lead, train and support the work of other staff engaged in similar functions Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings Qualifications and Experience: Understanding Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree) . Minimum 2- 3 years experience in Systems Administration At least 2- 3 years experience with Hardware & networking Advanced knowledge of installations, upgrades and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2000/ 2003, VMware ESXi server and Centos (Linux) servers. Advanced database administration skills including backups/ restores, monitoring DB performance, running SQL scripts to monitor the system and modify tables when required. Knowledge of MySQL server administration and troubleshooting highly desirable. Working knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently. Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
