About the role
Maintaining servers using the RedHat Linux and or Solaris/AIX operating system Participate in an on-call rotation for UNIX/Linux support issues Advanced knowledge of HP-UX hardware, OS, and virtualization concepts Red hat Enterprise Linux is required for this position Manage and maintain Linux server infrastructure. Ensure system performance, availability, and security. Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolve complex issues. Implement system enhancements and optimizations. Automate repetitive tasks using scripting and system automation tools. Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of Linux systems. Monitor system performance and conduct regular system audits. Create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures. Configuring and maintain successful backups for UNIX and Linux systems Participating in defining UNIX and Linux hardware and software requirements, installation and configuration Participating in the documentation of activities, system changes, procedures, policies and standards for the UNIX and Linux architecture Work directly with engineering teams to help them incorporate Docker into their software deployment workflows Maintain/monitor performance of host based IPSIDS infrastructure servers and remote agents Perform the Patching activities on Unix servers and fix the vulnerabilities. Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for automated IT processes. Collaborate with IT teams to identify automation opportunities and improve system efficiencies. Ensure the integrity and performance of IT infrastructure through effective automation solutions. Document processes and best practices for Ansible development. Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to Ansible automation implementations. Participate in code review and repository maintenance for Ansible scripts. UNIX Systems Engineer Experience & Qualifications: 8+ years of Unix/Linux Administration (preferably RHEL 5-6) & Solaris At least 5+ years of Unix Authentication and Patching activities Expert experience in one or two UNIX operating systems (Red Hat Linux or AIX an advantage) Advanced knowledge of UNIX Shell Scripting, to include Perl, Bash, & Korn languages Must have solid Linux/Unix Administration experience Administration of Unix core services and applications such as NIS, NFS, automount, DNS, DHCP, Samba, SendMail, Apache, NTP, sudo, Jumpstart/Kickstart, LDAP, SSH Working knowledge with storage (ability to connect UNIX/Linux Servers to SAN storage and troubleshoot) Practical hands on experience troubleshooting UNIX/Linux, hardware issues and application issues Disclaimer: This job posting has been aggregated from external source.
