About the role
Technical Lead/Manager/Director of Engineering (DoE) We are seeking an experienced Leader of Engineering to lead the architecture and delivery of scalable, secure, AI-driven enterprise solutions on Microsoft Azure. This is a strategic leadership role at the intersection of technology vision and operational execution you'll set direction, drive innovation, and ensure your engineering organization ships high-quality products for the US healthcare industry. The ideal candidate has a strong startup pedigree, a track record of delivering enterprise-grade cloud applications, and the instincts to roll up their sleeves when it matters. You won't be writing production code day-to-day, but you'll be deeply engaged in technical decisions, architectural tradeoffs, and unblocking your team. Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture Own the end-to-end technical architecture of AI-powered enterprise solutions on Azure, making key decisions on system design, scalability, and security. Hands-On Engagement Dive into technical problems alongside the team reviewing code, debugging critical issues, and guiding architectural decisions at the detail level. AI & Cloud Strategy — Lead the deployment and governance of LLM-based and AI-integrated solutions on Azure, ensuring they meet enterprise standards for reliability, security, and cost efficiency. Azure Enterprise Operations — Oversee configuration and management of Azure App Services, VMs, databases, and AI/ML tooling across production environments. Cross-Functional Collaboration — Partner closely with product, clinical, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into sound technical roadmaps and execution plans. Engineering Excellence — Establish and uphold engineering standards: code quality, system observability, incident response, and continuous optimization. Team Development — Mentor and grow engineers, foster a strong engineering culture, and build the organizational capability to scale. What We're Looking For 8+ years in enterprise software development, with 5+ years in technical leadership roles — ideally including time as a hands-on architect or engineering lead at a startup. Demonstrated experience designing and delivering cloud-native solutions on Azure (or AWS), including AI/LLM integrations. Deep familiarity with the stack: Python, ReactJS, FastAPI, MongoDB/CosmosDB. Proven ability to lead engineering organizations through ambiguity and rapid growth — setting direction without waiting for perfect information. US Healthcare Technology experience strongly preferred, including working knowledge of compliance and data security requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.). A builder's mentality: you take ownership, move with urgency, and hold a high bar for what "done" looks like.
