This full-time, 100% on-site position offers hands-on involvement in research and machine build operations, from sourcing and procurement through mechanical assembly. Responsibilities

Source and obtain quotes from vendors for mechanical parts and components

Place and track orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials

Receive, inspect, and organize incoming parts and materials against purchase orders and drawings

Assemble machines and subassemblies following engineering drawings and documented procedures

Interpret and understand mechanical and assembly drawings for accurate builds
-
Support general lab and equipment upkeep, including organizing inventory, tools, and workspace maintenance
-
Communicate effectively with vendors, purchasing, and internal team members to resolve issues or discrepancies
-
Escalate any delivery, quality, or specification concerns promptly

Required Skills and Experience

Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and assembly drawings
-
Familiarity with common hardware, fasteners, and assembly tools/techniques
-
Detail-oriented and self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks independently

Strong verbal and written communication skills
-
Comfortable working in a hands-on, shop/lab environment
-
Proficient with basic computer applications (email, spreadsheets, etc.)

High school diploma or equivalent (technical certificate or associate degree preferred) or 4+ years equivalent experience

Preferred Skills
-
Ability to read electrical schematics and perform basic low-voltage wiring

Experience creating mechanical part or assembly drawings using Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software
-
Background in vendor management, procurement, or supply chain coordination

Competitive hourly pay: $14.70–$17.21/hr (max bill rate $25.02/hr)
