Job Description SCOM Monitoring Lead Position: SCOM Monitoring Lead Experience: 810 Years Location: Bangalore Shift Timing: 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM IST Notice Period: Immediate Joiners Preferred Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled SCOM Monitoring Lead to manage and enhance our enterprise monitoring environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) , infrastructure monitoring, automation, and team leadership. This role involves leading monitoring operations, driving platform improvements, ensuring service availability, and managing a team of monitoring engineers. Key Responsibilities Monitoring Platform Management Lead the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the Microsoft SCOM platform. Manage SCOM components including: Management Servers Gateway Servers Operational Database Data Warehouse Ensure monitoring platform availability, scalability, performance, and reliability. Perform SCOM upgrades, patching, migrations, and health checks. Troubleshoot and resolve SCOM infrastructure issues. Monitoring Operations Design and implement monitoring solutions across: Windows Server Infrastructure Active Directory SQL Server Citrix Environment VMware vSphere & Hyper-V Network Infrastructure Storage Platforms (EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, etc.) Azure and AWS Cloud Services Optimize monitoring through alert tuning and threshold management. Ensure timely incident detection, triage, escalation, and resolution. Drive proactive monitoring initiatives to improve service availability. SCOM Engineering & Automation Deploy, configure, and maintain Management Packs. Develop and maintain: Custom Monitors Rules Distributed Applications Dashboards Reports Configure notification channels and alert subscriptions. Integrate SCOM with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow. Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and operational efficiency. Implement automated remediation workflows where applicable. Reporting & Governance Generate and present: Availability Reports Capacity Reports SLA Reports Operational Health Reports Conduct trend analysis and capacity planning activities. Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical incidents. Maintain monitoring documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks. Team Leadership Lead and mentor a team of monitoring engineers. Define monitoring standards, operational procedures, and escalation matrices. Manage shift operations and ensure monitoring coverage. Conduct performance reviews and facilitate technical skill development. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the monitoring function. Stakeholder Management Collaborate with Infrastructure, Application, Cloud, Security, and Service Management teams. Provide executive-level reporting on monitoring effectiveness and service health. Act as the primary point of contact for monitoring-related escalations and improvements. Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience administering SCOM in enterprise environments. Experience leading technical teams and handling major incident management.
