About the role
Kforce has a client that is seeking an EMC Storage - GDDR SRDF for a remote role.
Summary: We are seeking senior-level Dell EMC Mainframe Enablers (MFE)/Geographically Dispersed Disaster Restart (GDDR) Engineer to provide specialized production support for a large, highly available mainframe storage environment.
This is not a general EMC storage administrator role. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience troubleshooting GDDR/MFE automation, SRDF replication and recovery issues in production, including situations where automation fails or stops mid-process and manual intervention is required.
The engineer will work alongside infrastructure and multivendor support teams during critical incidents to diagnose failures, determine appropriate recovery actions, restore replication safely and provide mainframe-specific guidance based on array-side conditions.
Production Support Responsibilities: The engineer must be capable of independently troubleshooting situations including:
GDDR or MFE automation failures
Automation stopping during an active process
SRDF/A or SRDF/S replication drops
Scripts requiring backup, restart, bypass or manual completion
Devices or consistency groups requiring cleanup or reconditioning
Failed or interrupted replication recovery
Host-side recovery resulting from array-side conditions
Determining whether conditions are safe to restart/resume replication
Sev 1 and Sev 2 production incidents requiring immediate technical escalation
During major incidents, the engineer will participate in live technical bridges with client, infrastructure and vendor support teams and provide clear recommendations for recovery.
Support & On-Call Expectations: The engagement requires:
Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation for critical Sev 1/Sev 2 incidents
Candidates must have strong hands-on production experience with:
Dell EMC Mainframe Enablers (MFE)
Dell EMC GDDR/GDR, preferably GDDR 6.x
GDDR configuration, scripts, overrides and automation
GDDR restart and recovery procedures
Failure handling when GDDR automation stops or fails mid-process
SRDF/S and SRDF/A
AutoSwap and consistency-group operations
zDP
Symmetrix command-line tools
Mainframe storage operations
FICON and Fibre Channel concepts related to EMC mainframe replication
Replication drops and failed automation
Resynchronization and full-push scenarios
Recovery following script interruption
Device and consistency-group cleanup/reconditioning
Coordination of array-side conditions with host-side recovery
Determining when replication can safely be resumed
Experience supporting MFE/GDDR environments involving VMAX 950F and/or PowerMax 8500 is strongly preferred
