Software Testing Senior Specialist

What you will be doing:
Serve as a Software Test Engineer with a primary focus on Emergency Calling (eCall) Services within the TCU Software Development Team.
Verify life-saving technology that connects vehicles to emergency services during critical incidents, ensuring seamless performance of both legacy EU eCall and Next-Generation (NG) eCall systems.
Work in an agile environment, collaborating with developers across the Cellular, Audio, and Telematics domains to ensure vehicles meet stringent global regulatory standards.
Core Testing: Execute Regression and Sanity testing for European (EU) eCall and Next-Generation (NG) eCall to ensure regulatory compliance and functional reliability.
Audio Validation: Perform sanity and regression testing for emergency audio paths to ensure clear communication between vehicle occupants and emergency operators.
Continuous Integration: Conduct Pull Request (PR) build testing to provide rapid feedback to the development team on new code submissions.
Bench Management: Set up and maintain Smart-benches, including the configuration and provisioning of ECUs to simulate real-world vehicle environments.
Troubleshooting and Analysis: Collect and analyze logs (e.g., cellular modem logs, network traces) to identify root causes of defects and assist development in resolution.
Defect Lifecycle: Manage defects in Jira, including detailed reporting, triaging, and retesting of fixes observed during test cycles.
Process Improvement: Test and validate new or updated test procedures to ensure high test coverage and efficiency.
What you'll need to be successful

Essential:
-
Bachelor's Degree.
-
For Experienced Candidates: 3+ years of experience in cellular/telecommunications testing (LTE, 5G, IMS, VoLTE) or automotive telematics.

For Junior/Entry-Level Candidates: A strong academic foundation in wireless communications or networking, combined with a proven self-learner mindset and a passion for troubleshooting complex systems.

Demonstrated experience with software testing fundamentals (functional, regression, and sanity testing).

Familiarity with embedded operating systems (e.g., Linux, QNX, or Android).

Telecommunications experience.

Automation experience.
-
Linux experience.
-
Fully onsite position in Kanata, ON.

Preferred:
-
Domain Expertise: Knowledge of eCall standards (e.g., EN 16072, EN 16062) and Next-Generation eCall (NG eCall) protocols.

Knowledge of 3GPP Specifications, especially Layer 3 (Call Processing).

Tools: Experience with cellular testing tools (e.g., QXDM, Wireshark, Spirent, Rohde and Schwarz, or Keysight network simulators).

Agile Workflow: Working experience with Jira for defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Azure DevOps).

Scripting: Basic knowledge of Python or Shell scripting for log parsing or simple automation tasks.

Communication: Strong analytical skills with the ability to document technical issues clearly and concisely for a global engineering audience.
