Utilize advanced knowledge and strong experience in monitoring and securing cloud systems and environments (preferably AWS and Azure). Work with Infrastructure, Development, Data, and Information Security teams in a blended environment. A comprehensive understanding of cloud security systems and policies are key for this role. Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cloud-based and internet-accessible systems and services that support core business functions of Ameritas. This role is a new addition to our high-performing and fast-paced team which will be growing while refining role responsibilities over time. A continuous improvement mindset will be necessary for success in this role. Must be adept at learning and applying new technologies and solving new problems. What you do: Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; and recommends process, product, or service improvements. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Contributes to the development of functional strategy, establish operational plans for job area; leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application developers, operations engineers, and architects to understand complex product requirements and translate them into automated solutions. Collaborate with colleagues to support and improve architecture, systems, processes, standards, and tools. Lead architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability in the cloud. Design, implement, and maintain virtual server, storage, network, and security infrastructure while ensuring all solutions are properly monitored and instrumented. Work with application teams to migrate applications between private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. Develop, implement, and test data backup and recovery, and disaster recovery procedures. Write and maintain clear, concise documentation, runbooks, and operational standards including infrastructure diagrams while educating/mentoring product teams and junior engineers. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in development, test, and production environments. Deploy and maintain code for automating the creation of scalable/resilient systems/infrastructure. Continuously review existing and proposed architectures with a goal of cost optimization and identifying, adopting, and refining best practices. What you bring: 7+ years of experience in Software and/or Infrastructure required, with 3+ years desired in relevant cloud, automation, and/or orchestration positions. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related focus/major, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree desired. Experience required in the following: Knowledge of the offerings and capabilities of cloud computing platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). Experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running in the cloud. Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as IAM, EC2, EBS, ELB, RDS, S3, Route 53, Gateways, VPCs, CloudWatch, Lambda scripts. Working knowledge of Azure Cloud Services like Azure Active Directory, Virtual Machines, Functions, Virtual Network, DevOps, Blob storage, Managed Disks, Management Groups, Resource Groups, and Subscriptions. Experience with managing cloud costs and building solutions with cost and performance efficiency being top-of-mind. Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows system administration. Shell, Python, Groovy, PowerShell, or other scripting language. Experience monitoring cloud and on-premise infrastructure and applications. In-depth knowledge working with and managing Git (Bitbucket, GitHub). Experience with migrating workloads between different tenants and subscriptions in the cloud. Experience desired in the following: Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Dataiku, and Snowflake. Exposure or hands-on experience with APM tools (ElasticSearch). Knowledge/experience with container management such as Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS. AWS Certifications (AWS Certified: SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect). Azure Certifications (Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert). Experience using log management tools (ELK) for troubleshooting. Experience with Infrastructure Definition/Provisioning tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM). Familiarity with the fundamentals of web application and relational database architectures, Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) processes. Understanding of immutable infrastructure and infrastructure as code concepts.
