About the role
Your Team ResponsibilitiesThe Climate Data and Content team is responsible for research and assessment of carbon footprint and business initiatives related to climate change for approximately 14,000 companies globally. Team's research is focused on climate-related metrics including carbon emissions, energy performance, climate change targets and commitments, and other relevant sector-specific data, using a variety of sources such as annual reports, sustainability reports, news publications, and other company disclosures.You will operate at the intersection of sustainability & climate expertise, data operations, and MSCI's firmwide AI and automation transformation helping evolve manual, document-heavy workflows into intelligent, auditable, and scalable data processes.Your Key ResponsibilitiesData Research & AssessmentProcure and process information on globally listed companies using multiple sources including ARs, CSRs, websites, and web crawlersCapture and transform climate data metrics including carbon emissions, energy performance, climate targets, and sector-specific KPIs into meaningful information, ratings, and scoresContribute to sector expertise and support all climate data integration effortsUpdate and refine industry assessment guides for data collectors and internal analystsQuality Assurance & Data IntegrityReview and validate climate data provided by vendors and issuers within your sector coverageDesign and implement process improvements and QA checks to ensure consistent data quality and efficiencyReconcile data challenges and address queries from internal and external users pertaining to climate dataLeverage automation and rule-based checks to reduce manual errors and improve throughputAI & Automation in OperationsApply approved AI tools and automation frameworks to support automated QC, anomaly detection, intelligent triage of high-risk or complex cases, and workflow optimisationValidate AI outputs, understand their limitations, and ensure human-in-the-loop decision makingUse AI-supported tools to summarise, compare, and triage documentation while retaining analyst judgment and accountabilityContribute to the responsible adoption of AI-assisted tools that improve speed, accuracy, and scaleStakeholder Engagement & CommunicationEngage with internal and external stakeholders for better understanding of methodology and dataAddress queries from internal and external users, train users on methodologies and processes, and maintain process documentationWork with a global team of researchers, data specialists, IT teams, and vendors to enhance assessment of companies' carbon footprint, climate targets, and climate change mitigation practicesProcess ImprovementIdentify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and automate repetitive tasksDrive coverage and content expansion projects defined by the businessContribute to working committees, projects, or perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the businessYour skills and experience that will help you excelExperienceEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Statistics, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Oil & Gas Engineering, or Power ManagementExperience: 1-3 years of working experience in Energy (Oil & Gas), Power, Industrials, or Transport sectors and/or a background in GHG assessments, GRI reporting, or environmental impact assessmentsDomain Knowledge: Strong understanding of climate change issues and regulations, including carbon offsets and climate reporting standards (e.g. TCFD, ISSB) and frameworks (e.g. IPCC, UNFCCC)About MSCIWhat we offer youTransparent compensation schemes and comprehensive employee benefits, tailored to your location, ensuring your financial security, health, and overall wellbeing.Flexible working arrangements, advanced technology, and collaborative workspaces.A culture of high performance and innovation where we experiment with new ideas and take responsibility for achieving results.A global network of talented colleagues, who inspire, support, and share their expertise to innovate and deliver for our clients.Global Orientation program to kickstart your journey, followed by access to our Learning@MSCI platform, AI Learning Center , LinkedIn Learning Pro and tailored learning opportunities for ongoing skills development.Multi-directional career paths that offer professional growth and development through new challenges, internal mobility and expanded roles.We actively nurture an environment that builds a sense of inclusion belonging and connection, including eight Employee Resource Groups.
