Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Solaris System Administrator hands-on experience managing Oracle Solaris (SPARC and x86) environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, patching, and day o-day administration of Solaris servers, ensuring high availability, security, and reliability of mission-critical systems. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, patch, and maintain Oracle Solaris 10/11 servers on SPARC and x86 hardware. Administer and troubleshoot Solaris Zones (Containers), LDOMs (Logical Domains), and virtualization environments. Manage storage using ZFS, UFS, SVM (Solaris Volume Manager), and integrate with SAN/NAS. Perform performance monitoring, capacity planning, and tuning using tools such as prstat, vmstat, iostat, mpstat, and DTrace. Configure and maintain networking, including IPMP, link aggregation, and network interfaces. Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures (e.g., NetBackup, Veritas, ufsdump/zfs send). Apply OS patches and firmware updates; manage patch clusters and maintenance windows. Set up and manage high-availability and clustering solutions (Solaris Cluster / Veritas Cluster Server). Harden systems and enforce security policies, user/group management, RBAC, and audit compliance. Write and maintain shell scripts (Bash, Korn, Perl, or Python) to automate routine administrative tasks. Provide L2/L3 support, root-cause analysis, and incident resolution within defined SLAs. Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and configuration records. Collaborate with database (Oracle), application, network, and storage teams.
